The invention comprises the tie and fas` tening means hereinafter described and claimed.`

The drawings illustrate merely one-half oftthe tie,` the. other half being an exact duplicate of that shown. The tie body 1 is shown of substantially -I-fshape in cross section. At the end the Web is preferably coped olf on a diagonal line as shown at 2. What I claim is:

The combination of a rolled rnetal tie provided with an integral hook portion for receiving one flange of the rail and with a transverse groove or notch, a one-piece clamp arranged to embrace the other flange Y'ot' the rail, and a wedge adapted to be driven f' into said groove or notch and arranged to engage the clamp and force the same against the rail base. l
2, The combination of a rolled metal tie of I-shape in cross section having its top flanges .severed from the web and bent upwardly to forni portion s to receive one of the flanges of the rail, a clamp provided with downwardly projecting `side portions embracing the top flanges of the tieand over-hanging the'other flange of the rail and means arranged to be driven under the outer portion of the Clamp and acting to move ,said elamp to rvard the rail base and simultaneonsly depress the rail base engaging portion of said clamp. v

The combination of a rolled metal tie provided with an integral hook portion for receiving` one flange of the rail and with a transverse groom or notch, a filler adapted to be inserted between said hook portion and the rail base, a clamp provided with downwardly projecting side portions einbraeing the top of the tie and with a portion overhanging they other flange of the rail. and a wedge adapted to be driven into .said groove or notch and engage, the depending side portions of the elamp and fort-e the same against the rail base.
