Be it known that I, THEonoR WILLMA, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Milwaukee,` in the county of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain. new 'and' useful Improvements' in Crushers; and I do hereby declare that the following is'a full, clear, and exact description thereof. l
My inventionconsists in what is herein particularly set forth with reference to the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the claims of this specification, its object being to provide for simple, economical and effective secondary crushing of material in an apparatus designed for the separation of mineral from other substances.

The framework of the separator is of any sultable material andconstruction according to the nature ofsaid material. The separator embodies a primary crusher comprislng a hopper l0 containing a lixked jaw 11 and a pair of rocker jaws 12 each intermediate of the xed jaw and a wall of the hopper.l (The bottom of the hopper is a trough for a spiral conveyer 13 by which the crushed material is. fed. 4to an elevator 14 that discharges into a union hopper 15 of chutes 15, and a preferably pivotally adjustable partition 16tis arranged in the hopper. Each chute is "provided with 'a discharge control gate 17 at its lower end. The

The tilt-sections of the aforesaidA bed-box discharge alternately upon a vibratory screen 22, and the tailings from this screen have gravity descent along a suitably arranged conductor 23 to the elevator hopper l4^to be fed back tothe secondary crusher. The tine material that passes through the screen 22 falls into areceptacle 24 and is mingled with water admitted to said receptacle through,l a feed-pipe 25 to form a semi-liquid substance that escapes through a nozzle 25 of the aforesaid receptacle onto an inclined distributer yplate 26, that in turn discharges onto the first of a plurality` of shaking tables 27 on different planes and arranged to feed from one to another, these tables being preferably spirally grooved, the grooves being gradually widened from the receiving end to the discharge end of each table to trap mineral from which other material has' been washed away. The outermost table discharges into compartments of a preferably partitioned settling box 28 havmg upper overflow spouts 28 that empty into a lead-od trough 29, mineral particles being trapped in said settling-box from which the lighter material is washed away by water fed to said tables from spraytroughs 30 suspended over the` same, the water vbeing supplied to through pipes 31. In practice the movable parts of the machine are actuated by any suitable means, but a convenient operating mechanism is shown and now described as follows: The frame vofthe machine is provided with bearings for a series of shafts. One shaft 32 is fast in a pulley 33 yfor ar drive-belt 34, and a gear-wheel 35 combined with this pulley .meshes with a pinion 36 fast on a shaft 37 provided with 'a vcam-wheel'38 engaged.

The shaft 37 is connected by a belt 40 and pulleys 40 with a shaft A41, that in turnis connected by aA belt 42 and .pulleys 42 with a crankshaft 43. connected by a link 44 with a rollersupported grid 45, whereby reciprocative motion is imparted tosaid grid. The crankshaft 43 is provided with a cam-wheel 46 engaged by an arm 27 of one of the tables said troughs 27 that has pivotal connection with the o shaft 49, and pitman 50 wristed to the counter-shaft spur-wheels connect withslides 51 .tozwhich the rocker-jaws 12. of the primary crusher are joined by pins 52 that extend -through horizontal s ts 53 in the sides of the hopper 10.
The main shaft 54 of the machine carries a pulley 55 driven by a power-belt 56, and another pulley 57 on the same shaft drives the belt 34. Another belt 58 driven from` Athe shaft 54 is trained on an idler 59, an elevator-shaft pulley 60, another idler 61 and a pulley 62 on the shaft 32. The powershaft 1s also provided with a spur-pinion 63 in mesh with aspur-wheel 64 wristed to a pitman 65 that connects with the rocker block 19 of the secondary crusher, this block being one of great weight in order to effectually crush thematerial fed lto the bed-box of-said crusher.
The rocker-block 19 is provided with bearing-brackets 66 for rods 67 to which paired depending plural-hook grabs 68 are connected, .one grab of each pair being in the form of a thereof coupled to a spring 69 attached to said block, that is-provided with stops 694 in opposition to the grabs. A link 70 con-- nects the arm with a lever 71 fulcrumed on the rocker-block and arranged to be actuated against the resistance of the spring 69 by a double cam-plate 72 attached to the framing of the machine.
When the block 19 is on rock in either direction, the upper hooks of a pair of the bs first enga e lateral pins 73 of one'of the bed-box.sect1ons 18 to lift the same to a predetermined inclination said grabs being disengaged from the pins by a lift of the companion lever .71 on one prong of the opposing cam-plate 72 to permit a drop of said bed-box section to normal position, whereby the previously crushed vmaterial therein is loosened. Upon continued rock of the block 19 in the same direction there is engagement of thelower hooks 4of the aforesaid ygrabs with the4 pins of the aforesaid bed-box section VAto lift the same to a dumping inclination its contents beingdischarged onto ,-"he screen 22. ' Each chute gate 17 is shown provided witha lateral pin 73over a lever 74 fulcrumed upon a support 75 for the chute and connected by a link 76 with another lever 7 7 fulcrumed on the same support.' The lever 77 being in the path of alateral pin 78 ofy the rocker-block 19, the gate 17 is lifted subsequent to the second return of the'adjacent tilt-section of the aforesaid bed-box to discharge material to the secondary crusher, `a swing-spout 79 of the aforesaid chute'being linked to said gate to be lifted into working position. f Y
The distributer-plate 26 is triangular in plan and provided with suitably arranged projections 26 by which to scatter the flowlnmaterial.

I claim:
1. The combination of a two box, a rocker-block engaging the box, chutes. by which to deliver material to the boxsections, gates controlling the discharge ends of the chutes. moans for dumping the bedbox sections alternately, and means for opening each chute-gate coincident with a return ofy an adjacent bed-box section to normal psition subsequent to a dumping operation.
2. The combination of a two-section bedbox, a rocker-blockl engaging the box, springand-cam controlled plural hook grabs in connection with the block and engageable with projections of the box sections to trip-lift the same to different inclinations from normal position, gated chutes by which to delivermaterial to said box-sections, and block-controlled means for opening each chute-gate coincident with the return of an adjacent bed-box section. to normal position after lift of the vsame to the greatest or dumping inclination. l
3. .The combination of a two-section bedbox, a rocker-block engaging the box, spring-and-cam controlled plural hook grabs in oonne'ction with'the block and engageable with projections of the box-sections to trip-lift the same to different inclinations from normal position, gated chutes by which to deliver material to said box-secblock-controlled means forA opening each chute-gate coincident with the return of van adjacent bed-box section to normal position after lift of the'same to the greatest or dumping inclination, and a gatecontrolled swing-spout in connection with each chute.
4.
