To this end my invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and combination of\'parts herein shown and described and more particularly pointed out in the claims, In the accompanying drawings wherein like or similar reference characters indicate like or corresponding parts; Figure 1, is a longitudinal section taken substantiallynon line 1"#-1 of Fig. 2 showing one form of my improvement applied to an electrically heated flat iron. Fig. 2; isa section taken substantially on line 2--2 cf Fig. -1, with the fiat ironl shown in elevation. Fig. 3, is a sectional elevation of m device applied to a stand or holder for a4 at iron.

In the form hown in Fig. 3, my im rovement is attached to a stand or hol er 18 adapted to receive and su port the element when not in use. In this orm my improvement is so positioned that when the element is placed upon the stand a part of the fusible member 19 between the clamps 10--10 will be brought in close proximity to-a face of the element substantially as above described. The general operationx and construction being lalso substantially the same as herein before set forth. I {aving thus described my improvement, it is obvious that various immaterial modi- -fications may b'e made in my device without departingv from the spirit of my invent-ion, hence I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the exact form of construction shown.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A device of the kind described, comprising an insulating block rovided with means for attachin electric conductors thereto and means or securing a fusible member between said conductors, in combination with means adapted to engage the central portion of said fusible member to Ahold the same in a fixed position.

A device of the kind described, comprisingan insulating block provided with a recess in its face and engaging means positioned in said recess near the ends thereof adapted to connect a fusible member in an electric circuit, in combination with supporting means extending transversely of said recess adapted, to position a portion of said member in close proximity to the face of said block and means positioned at opposite sides of said supporting means arranged to space the remaining portion of said fusible member from the-face of said block. 7 A device of the kind described, comprising an insulating block provided with a recess in its face and engaging means positioned in said recess near the ends thereof adapted to connect a fusible member in an electric circuit, in combination with means formed integrally with said block extending transversely of said' recess adapted to position a portion of said fusible member in close proximity to thel face of said block.

A device of the kind described, comprising an insulating block provided with a recessin the face and engaging means positioned in said recess near the ends thereof adapted to connect a fusible ymember in an electric circuit, incombination with means arranged in said recess to position a portion of said fusible member in close proximity .to the face of said insulating block and means for securing said block in position and thereby control the distance between said fusible member and an element heated by the electric circuit passing through said fusible member. l v

A device of the kind described, comprising an insulating block provided with a recess in its face, and engaging means posi-- tioned in said recess near the ends thereof adapted to connect a fusible member in an electric circuit, in combination with means arranged in said recess adapted to position a portion of said member in close proximity 10.'
