Be it known that I, OsKAifCAnLsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Felch, Dickinson county, Michigan, have invented certain 'new and useful Improvements in Grain-Doors, of whieh.the following is a specification.

This invention relate's to grain door construction, especially doors for railway grain ears.

The object ofthe invention is to provide grain doors of simple constructiom-of convenient. manipulation and control7 and easy installation.

In the several views 2 represents one of the sides of a railway car, 3 the usual side door opening and l the usual slide-door running on rails 5 and 6.

7 and 8 represent two sections of a grain door hinged together at their junction line A9 to swing outwardly, 10, 10v in Fig. 3 representing the hinges. The two door Sections 7 and S arel supported vertically upon a rod 11v engaged by ears or eyes 12 and 13 upon straps 14 secured to said door sections, and the doors are slidable upon said rod within the limits of stops 15 and 1G for the door` 7 and similar` stops 17 and 1S for the door 8. These stops are preferably collars shrunk upon the rod 11. 'lhe latter rod is itself movable vertically on vertical rods 1t) and 20 within the car, the rod ll being' provided with ears or eyes 2l and Qt-which engage the respective rods 1t) and 20.' The latter have each a lient. or horizontal portion 23 at the rods upper end and a similar lient. or horizontal portion i4-at its lower end, so that when the doors 7 and 8 are in their closed position shown in -Figs. 1 and 3 the eyes on the ends of the horizontal rod 11 are engaged with the horizont-al portions 24 of the vertical rods which prevents prying up or lifting the doors from the outside hefore they are unlocked to swing open on their hinges. Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentl. The combination with a door opening, of door-sections spanning said opening, said sections hinged together for opening move-- ment on their hinges, a rod upopftvhich said door sections are slidably monted for vertical support during angular fmovementv relative'. to each other, vertical rodsl upon which said rod is slidably mounted, and means for locking the latter rod against vertical movement.

2. The combination with a door opening, 0f a pair of door sections spanning'4 'said opening, said sections pivoted together at their junction, means for locking sa'id door sections against movement on their pivots,

lmeans supporting said doors laterally for vertlcal movement,- means ff locking the door sections against vertical 1n vement, and

'means for supporting said sections out of the way'overhead in a horizontal position.

3. A gram door consisting of two sections hinged together for angular opening and closing Amovement, means supporting said door sections for sliding movementin connection with their angular movement, means' supporting the sections for movement vertically as a single door, and means 'operable from one side of thedoor-opening-for controlling the combined angular and sliding movementl of said door sections.
