Application To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, FRANK MCM. SAWYER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have. invented certain new and useful Improvements in `Wall Construction, of which' the following is a specicat-ion.

This invention relates to improvements in wall constructions, and one of the principal objects of the same is to provide an arti- :ticial stone wall formed with -two types of bricks one of which -is the bonding brick.

Another object is to form a wall with two types of bricks laid in double rows, the alternate bricks in veach row projecting into the other row for bonding.

.A further objectis to form a wall having a double row of air passages extending from the bottom tothe top of the wall.

A still further object is to construct a wall that is strong, easy to build, and for which the cost will be low.

The courses are laid in two rows l() .and ll, the two styles of bricks alternating in pla-ced, in staggered lrelation to each other, a portion of the U-shaped bricks forming a central partition throughout the length of the wall, and the in connection with. the remaining portions of said U-shaped bricks, form the outer surfaces of the wall and a series of transverse partitions, thereby forming a double rowof vertical Ventilating passages.

In alternate courses the bricks are reversed, as shown clearly in Fig. 2, arranged in staggered relation as -vbefore described, with the backs 4 of the eringthelegs 9 of the L-shaped bricks in the lower course, and with their legs '5 and 6 lying upon the legs of the under U-shaped Specification of Letters Patent. nies December 6,1910.

It will also be observed, that the bricks in one course overlap those in the lower whereby a break of joints is secured.

Having thus fully described the invention what is claimed is I l. A wall construction, comprising shaped and L-shaped bricks placed in double rows and alternating in each row, the legs of the U-shaped bricks forming a continuous central partition and part of the surfaces of the wall and the'backs thereof torming transverse partitions, and the legs of the L-shaped bricks lling the spaces between the U-shaped bricks on the surfaces and the other portions of said Lshaped bricks forming transverse partitions in alinement with the backs of the U-shaped bricks.
