with one or several ethereal oils, melting the whole, and casting the mass into suitable No Drawing.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ALEXANDERST'AP'LER, CHABLQTTENBURG, GERMANY.
SOLID PERFUME MI [XTURE CONTAINING. ARTIFICIAL MUSK.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Aug, 15, 1911, Application filed September 22, 1909. Serial No. 519,083.
Solid Perfume Mixture Containing Artificial Musk, of which the following is a full,
clear, and exact description.
.Combinatiens of perfumes insolid form may be obtained by mixing artificial musk molds. In this manner combinations of perfumes are obtained in' aconvenient form, such'for instance as cartridge or pencil form, or in any other desired shape.
According to the class of ethereal oils chosen and combined with the musk a great variety of diflerent odors will be'obtained. These combinations will consist solely of perfumes, and not as is the-case with the perfumes in solid form heretofore known of an ineffective mass or carrying medium impregnated or mixed wlthperfume, which 15 not odorous and soon loses by evaporation the comparatively small amount of per fume with which it was impregnated. On
an increase of temperature, the combinations attained by the present inv ntion retain their odorfor a very long time even in high summer temperatures, in which they do not melt as do the customary perfumes, but remain solid.
The invention may be carried out for instance in the. following manner :165 gr. of artificial musk containing acetanilid are melted and allowed to solidify, and 50 gr. of
pure ethereal voil for instance the so-called artificial oil of lilies of the yalley, or oils of similar suitable properties are mixed therewith, the mixture melted by the application of heat,'and the whole mass then cast into molds. Or, 165' gr. of'musk Baurand .65 gr. of heliotropin or 65 gr. of cumarin are well mixed with gr. of a pure ethereal (not fatty) flower oil, for instance the socalled artificial oil of lilies-of-the-yalley, the
mixture melted by the application of heat,
and is then cast into molds. The combinations of perfumes attained in this manner in solid form, consist of perfectly homo geneous massesj I claim 1. As a new article of manufacture, a solid perfume, the same comprising the product ethereal oil, substantially as described.
3. As a new article of manufacture, a
solid perfume, the same comprising the" product resulting from the fusing together ofartificial musk containing aeetanilid and another perfume comprising the so-called artificial oil of lilies-of-the-valley, substantially as described.
4. As a new article of manufacture, a solid perfume, the same consisting of the product resulting from the fusingtogether of artificial musk containing acetanilid, a
fragrant ethereal on, and another, perfume, substantially as described.
5. As a new article of manufacture, a solid perfume, the same consisting of the product resulting from the fusing together of artificial musk containing acetanilid, a fragrant ethereal oil, and another perfume, in the proportions of 165 parts of said artificial musk containing acetanilid, 50 parts of said fragrant oil, and '65 parts of said perfume, substantially as described.
6. As a new article of manufacture, a
.solid perfume,,the same consisting of the product resulting from the fusing together of artificial musk containing acetanilid, the
so called artificial oil of ,lilies-of-the-valley, and heliotropin, substantially as described.
7. As a new article ofmanufactfire, a solid perfume, the same consisting" of the product resulting from the fusing together of artificial musk containing acetanilid, the so-called artificial oil of lilies-of-the-valley, and heliotropin, in the proportions of 165 parts of said artificial musk containing acetanilid, 50 parts of said oilof lilies-of-thevalley, and 65 parts of said heliotropin, substantially as described.
8. The hereindescribed process for the manufacture of a solidperfume, which consists in mixing artificial musk containing acetanilid with anotherjserfume comprising afragrant ethereal oil, melting the mixture by the application of heat, pouring the mix- 7 sists in mixing artificial musk containing acetanilid with another perfume comprising the so-called artificial oil of lilies-of-thevalley, melting the mixture by the application of heat, pouring the mixture into suitable molds, and allowing it to solidify in the desired shape.
10. The hereindescribed process for the manufacture of a solid perfume,'which con sists in mixing artificial musk containing ac'etanilid with a fra rant ethereal oil and another perfume, me ting the mixture by the application of heat, pouring the mixture into suitable molds, and allowing itto solidify in the desired shape. r
11. The hereindescribed process for the manufacture of a solid perfume, which consists in mixing artificial musk containing acet-anilid with the so-called artificial oil of lilie's-of-the-v'alley and heliotropin, melting the mixture by the application of heat, pouring the mixture into suitable molds, and allowing it to solidify in the desired shape.
12. The "hereindescribed process for the manufacture of a solid perfume, which consists in mixing 165 parts artificial musk containing acetanilid with 50 parts 0f the socalled artificial oil ofliIiesOf-the-Valley and 65 parts of heliotropin, melting the mixture by the application of heat, pouring the mixture into suitable molds, and allowing it to solidify in the desired shape.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in the presence-0f two witnesses.
