Description

新穎包裝物件
本發明大致上係有關於包裝物件,其中此包裝物件之部分發生膨脹或收縮時仍可維持其功能性及結構完整性。
各種類型之硬質或半硬質(semi-rigid)容器係為眾所周知且經常用於包裝食品及非食品,例如醫藥用品及醫療器材。一般而言,這些容器提供至少一已塑型之空腔(cavity),而此空腔係由一基底(base)及一蓋體(cover)所界定而成,可支撐置放於其內之產品,且若該容器為密封時可能可保護該產品免受環境汙染。
上述容器經常在各種溫度下使用,例如以微波爐加熱或置放於冰箱內冷藏。食品容器自冰箱取出後立即以微波爐加熱亦為常見。如此對待容器可能會機械性破壞該容器之結構,亦可能影響其功能性(如該容器對置放於其內之食品所提供之密封性)。舉例而言,若容器之基底及蓋體之熱膨脹係數(thermal expansion coefficients)不同,當加熱容器時,基底(base)及蓋體(cover)將以不同之速率膨脹或變大。因此,具有較大熱膨脹係數者之膨脹現象可能造成熱膨脹係數較小者受到機械應力。
此外,在各種不同之情況下,消費者較喜歡澄澈、透明、或半透明之容器蓋體,如一般塑膠(regular plastics)或會分解之生物塑膠(bioplastics,如聚乳酸(PLA,Polylactic Acid))所製成之透明蓋體。在大部分之情況下,環境水分含量之改變並不改變這些上蓋之體積及/或形狀。然而,某些廣泛使用的具有基底(bases)之包裝系統可能易受環境水分含量影響,如內含高比例澱粉之容器基底或甚至紙漿模塑之容器,則會因為水分含量而使其體積脹大或縮小。因此,現今可得之包裝系統並非設計為可接受或補償上蓋與下底間之膨脹/收縮差異,如此則造成在充分密封其內容物上會有難度。
因此,業界亟需新穎包裝物件之技術,以使得溫度及/或含水量之改變並不顯著影響包裝物件之功能性及/或結構完整性。
在本發明之一實施例中提供了一種包裝物件(packaging article),該包裝物件包含一蓋體(cover),其中包含第一構造,以及一基底(base),其中包含第二構造,連接該第一構造及該第二構造以使得該蓋體及該基底形成一組合式(assembled)包裝物件,其中該第一構造並非位於該蓋體之邊緣,而該第二構造並非位於該基底之邊緣。在此實施例中,該第一構造可為一突出物(protrusion),而該第二構造可為一插孔(receptacle cavity)。在另一實施例中,上述第一構造可為一插孔,第二構造可為一突出物。又一實施例中,該第一構造及該第二構造中至少一項可包含一鎖構造(locking structure)(無特定限制,如按扣(snap))。
此外,上述蓋體(cover)及基底(base)可能具有不同之熱膨脹係數,當受熱(如以微波爐加熱)或冷凍(如以冰箱冷藏)時,上述蓋體及基底則會膨脹或收縮至不同程度。在一實施例中,上述蓋體之熱膨脹係數可能小於基底之熱膨脹係數。
再者,上述蓋體及基底可能會隨著水分含量之改變及/或環境水分含量之改變而以不同程度膨脹及/或收縮。
本發明亦提供一種具有一蓋體及/或一基底之包裝物件(packaging article),該包裝物件可包含生物可分解(biodegradable)或可食用之材料,無特殊限制,如澱粉、及/或紙漿(pulp)。

本發明之一實施例中提供了一種包裝物件(packaging article),該包裝物件包含一蓋體(cover),其中包含第一構造,以及一基底(base),其中包含第二構造,連接該第一構造及該第二構造以使得該蓋體及該基底形成一組合式(assembled)包裝物件,其中該第一構造並非位於該蓋體之邊緣,而該第二構造並非位於該基底之邊緣。
圖一至十七係為本發明中數種包裝物件之示例圖。其中示範性包裝物件具有規則、對稱之形狀及構型(configurations)。然而,應理解者為本發明亦可採用其他形狀及構型。本發明中其他形狀之實例係包括,但非限於,多角形(polygons)、圓形(circles)、橢圓形(ovals)、圓柱(cylinders)、角柱(prisms)、球體(spheres)、多面體(polyhedrons)、橢圓體(ellipsoids)、及任何其他可形成三維(three-dimensional)包裝之形狀,例如,用以盛裝食物於其內。包裝之形狀可由所欲盛裝之產品形狀而決定,且應理解為針對不同產品將使用不同之包裝。
根據本發明之一實施例,如圖一所示,包裝物件包含一蓋體(cover)10及基底(base)20。蓋體10具有一第一構造30,一按扣突出物(snap protrusion),其中還包含一鎖構造(locking structure)50。基底20具有一第二構造40,一插孔(receptacle cavity),用以扣入上述按扣突出物。第一構造30及第二構造40二者分別位於蓋體10及基底20之內部。
上述「位於內部」之描述在本說明書中係指稱將一構造設置於蓋體或基底上除了邊緣以外之位置。在一實施例中,第一構造30及第二構造40二者分別位於蓋體10及基底20之內部中央。在另一實施例中,第一構造30及第二構造40二者可分別位於本發明包裝物件之蓋體10及基底20之內部非中央處。

當在功能上相連接時,上述第一構造及第二構造使得上蓋(cover)及下底(base)可扣合在一起以形成組合式包裝物件,在一般拿取或處理該包裝物件時可避免上蓋及下底分開。在一實施例中,為確保上述機械式連接之可靠,上述第一構造及第二構造中至少一項可包含一鎖構造(無特定限制,如按扣(snap))。適合用以實現本發明目的之鎖構造或互鎖構造(interlocking structure)係在此領域技術中所廣為人知。

當本說明書中述及「聚碳酸(PC,polycarbonate)」時,係指稱聚合物之重複主鏈內包含至少一碳酸單體鍵聯之同元聚合物或其共聚物。聚碳酸(PC)鍵聯可以下列通式表示:[O-R-OC(O)]n
前述蓋體(cover)及基底(base)可能具有不同之熱膨脹係數,當受熱(如以微波爐加熱)或冷凍(如以冰箱冷藏)時,上述蓋體及基底則會膨脹或收縮至不同程度。在一實施例中,上蓋之熱膨脹係數可能小於下底之熱膨脹係數。由於本發明包裝物件獨特及有利之構形,使得不同程度之膨脹或收縮可能將不會顯著影響蓋體、基底、及/或組合式包裝物件之功能性及/或結構完整性。
此外,上述蓋體及基底可能會隨著水分含量之改變及/或環境水分含量之改變而以不同程度膨脹及/或收縮。舉例而言,上述蓋體可為澄澈、透明、或半透明之容器上蓋,無特殊限制,如不會分解之一般塑膠或會分解之生物塑膠(bioplastics,如聚乳酸(PLA))所製成之透明蓋體,在多數情況下,環境水分含量之改變並不顯著改變這些上蓋之體積及/或形狀;然而,上述基底可為內含高比例澱粉及/或紙漿之容器下底,如此則可能易受影響,如受環境水分含量影響,此種基底會因為水分含量而使其體積脹大或縮小。因此,本發明係提供一種對其內容物密封效果較好之包裝物件,至少有部分是因為本發明之包裝物件可接受蓋體與基底間之膨脹/收縮差異。
經由包覆防水包膜在物件上可加強包裝物件之防水性。食品之長期保存需要密封之阻隔物以隔絕水氣及氧氣,習知包膜紙或塑膠薄膜材料可作為阻隔物之材質,其中使用生物可分解之硬質內襯(insert)以支撐及保護所盛裝之食品。
根據本發明之一種配方可生產之食用包裝物件(容器、盤子、托盤、碗、甜筒、及杯子,以及其他新穎形式之用具),包含水;澱粉;以及可選擇性地包含天然纖維材料、蛋白質、天然共聚化合物、及蠟或蠟乳液(wax emulsions)。
蛋白質及天然共聚化合物可包括,但非限於,來自酪蛋白(casein)、大豆蛋白分離物或濃縮物之製品、或其類似之製品。上述製品中之一種可由下列三步驟所製備:1)烹煮酪蛋白或大豆蛋白分離物(重量百分率約為10%)之水溶液,正如通常製造者之建議(一般而言,藉由浸泡以水合蛋白質,之後逐漸提高溶液之溫度及pH值至180℉及pH=9~9.5,接著維持溫度於180℉至15分鐘);2)冷卻上述製備品至室溫;以及可選擇性施行之步驟3)添加一防腐劑且混合均勻。防腐劑在上述製備品中之較佳濃度為0.1%或更低,此係依照蛋白質溶液所需之保存期限(shelf life)、最後完成品中所需之蛋白質濃度、及政府制定之食品法規中防腐劑含量之規範而決定。
其他蛋白質亦可與酪蛋白(casein)或大豆蛋白質之製備品組合或分開使用,以增進容器之防水性。例如,上述蛋白質可包括蛋白(albumen)、明膠(gelatin)、或其類似物。
數種天然纖維材料可組合使用以同時作為烘烤過物品中之結構要素(具有數種尺寸大小),以及作為不昂貴之有機填充物。纖維要素用以同時控制濕麵糊(wet batter)之模塑成型特性以及增強供食餐具成品之結構穩定性。雖然用於配方中之纖維長度與纖維之長徑比(aspect ratio)具有連續性(continuum),但配方中之纖維部分在一般情況下可分為三種等級(依照纖維長度)以適合不同功用。長或非常長之纖維(4~25公厘或更長)或複合纖維(composite fiber)要素係用以形成網狀物(meshwork)幫助防止其於麵糊模製膨脹時造成缺陷。中等長度之纖維(0.5~5公厘)亦可幫助控制濕麵糊之流體特性,且適合用以增加供食餐具成品之韌度(toughness),防止其於操作或正常使用時斷裂。短纖維(小於0.5公厘)主要係作為一種工具以引入生物可分解材料至配方中,亦即填充材料,其中此填充材料較包含該填充材料之澱粉基質更防水。
較短之纖維可選擇性地一同使用,或由其他具有與短纖維相同優點之填充材料取代。舉例而言,此種填充材料可包括有機及無機聚集體(aggregates)二者,如碳酸鈣、氧化矽(silica)、硫酸鈣、硫酸鈣水合物、矽酸鎂(magnesium silicate)、雲母礦物(micaceous minerals)、黏土礦物(clay minerals)、二氧化鈦、滑石(talc)等。聚集體及/或短纖維之濃度可介於配方總乾重之約0%至約25%之間、介於配方總乾重之約2.5%至約20%之間、介於配方總乾重之約5%至約15%之間、介於配方總乾重之約5%至約20%之間、或介於配方總乾重之約7%至約17%之間。
有機填充材料(filler material)可包括研磨之核桃殼。研磨之核桃殼可使纖維質包含短纖維。研磨之核桃殼可單獨作為填充材料或可與其他填充材料組合使用。當有機填充材料單獨使用時,其較佳濃度以研磨之核桃殼為例說明,約佔乾重之8%。
上述配方一般皆包含來自數種來源之纖維。來自草或蘆葦(reed)品種之較高品質纖維係提供中等長度之纖維,此種纖維對成品之結構穩定性及彈性(resilience)貢獻最多。長度為長至非常長之纖維或複合纖維可來自稍經加工之農業副產品,如剁碎、碾細、或研磨至適當大小之莖稈或穀殼材料,或可來自傳統長纖維素纖維之來源,如棉花或短棉絨(cotton linters)。在適當之處理條件下(如以鐵槌研磨),這些材料亦可提供可觀分量之非常短纖維,用以取代澱粉及增加成品之防水性。研磨堅果殼(或其他很硬、木質素(lignin)豐富之植物材料)形式之纖維材料亦可供作有機、較防水、生物可分解纖維以取代習知填充材料。
再者,這些適合在澱粉基供食餐具中作為結構要素之其他來源纖維係為現成可得。上述中之一些纖維係來自成長快速之植物,廣義而言為具有如草或蘆葦之特色,例如洋麻(kenaf)及竹子,此種來源所提供的纖維較取自樹木的纖維所帶來之相關環境成本為小。纖維工業中正在成長之部分係利用上述植物以取得纖維。許多實例中,取自上述植物之纖維品質及一致性(加工處理後)與木漿工業所供應者並駕齊驅。此外,纖維為農業製程中之副產物亦為唾手可得。舉例而言,稈、莖、及穀殼皆為纖維材料之現成來源,雖然無法與取自木材或較好品種草類之纖維品質一樣高,但其非常便宜,且其為副產物,因此基本上不會帶來額外之環境成本(不會超過任何生產主要作物所帶來之環境成本)。
在此所描述之包含於配方中之纖維材料在纖維長度及纖維長徑比(aspect ratio)二者皆可能差異極大。然而,整體而言,材料具有小於2公厘(mm)之平均纖維長度及介於約5:1至25:1之平均纖維長徑比為較佳。
配方中較適合用以增加防水性之蠟或蠟乳液(wax emulsions)係為一安定之水性乳液,通常由(巴西)棕櫚蠟(carnauba wax)、小燭樹蠟(candelilla wax)、米糠蠟(rice bran wax)、石蠟(paraffin)、或任何其他食品級之蠟所製成:植物蠟較動物蠟及礦物蠟為佳,此外天然蠟較各式合成蠟為佳。蠟種類之選擇係根據成品特定之應用及所欲之性質。乳狀液(emulsions)之製備通常係藉由乳化劑(emulsifying agents)與機械性攪動而完成。適合用於本配方中之蠟乳液之實例包括乳化(巴西)棕櫚蠟及乳化小燭樹蠟。所有核准使用於食品之乳化劑(emulsifiers)皆可應用於此,包括(但非限於)去水山梨醇單硬脂酸酯(sorbitan monostearate)、聚山梨醇酯60(Polysorbate 60)、聚山梨醇酯65(Polysorbate 65)、聚山梨醇酯80(Polysorbate 80)、食品級膠(gums)(例如,阿拉伯聚半乳糖(arabinogalactan)、鹿角菜膠(carrageenan)、富塞蘭藻膠(furcelleran/furcellaran)、三仙膠(xanthan))、硬脂醯單甘油檸檬酸酯(stearyl monoglyceridyl citrate)、琥珀酸硬脂酸酯(succistearin)、羥化卵磷脂(hydroxylated lecithin)、及許多其他化合物。關於蠟替代品之使用,一添加成分或其乳狀液之乾重濃度範圍可為約0.5%至約10%。添加成分可包括環氧化(epoxidized)植物油、氫化三酸甘油酯(hydrogenated triglyceride)、聚乙酸乙烯酯(PVAc,polyvinyl acetate)、聚乙酸乙烯酯-乙烯共聚物(VAE,poly(vinylacetate-ethylene)copolymer)、聚乙烯-乙酸乙烯酯共聚物(EVA,poly(ethylene-vinyl acetate)copolymer)、或其中之組合。

Claims (12)

  1. 一種包裝物件,包含:一蓋體,包含第一構造;以及一基底,包含第二構造,其中連接該第一構造及該第二構造以使得該蓋體及該基底形成一組合式包裝物件,其中該第一構造並非位於該蓋體之邊緣,以及該第二構造並非位於該基底之邊緣;其中該蓋體及該基底中至少一項包含一澱粉式材料,以及,其中該蓋體與該基底有一不同膨脹係數。
  2. 如請求項1所述之包裝物件,其中該第一構造係為一突出物,以及該第二構造係為一插孔。
  3. 如請求項1所述之包裝物件,其中該第一構造係為一插孔,以及該第二構造係為一突出物。
  4. 如請求項1所述之包裝物件,其中該第一構造及該第二構造中至少一項包含一鎖構造。
