Abstract

This invention relates to a lamp system with a gas-discharge lamp (10), which comprises a lamp bulb (12), said lamp bulb (12) being filled with a filling gas in a cold filling pressure and composed of a rare gas or a rare gas mixture, two tungsten-electrodes (14a, 14b), which are arranged in a given distance within the lamp bulb (12); and an electronic ballast (16), which is coupled with the electrodes (14a, 14b) and is designed to provide an AC-supply signal to generate an arc-discharge between the electrodes (14a, 14b), wherein a halogen compound is added to the filling gas. This invention also relates to a method for operating a gas-discharge lamp (10) by means of the electronic ballast (16).
