Abstract

A backlight module including a chassis, multiple light sources and a diffuser plate is provided. The light sources are disposed inside the chassis and the diffuser plate is disposed above the light sources. The diffuser plate includes multiple first transmissive regions and multiple second transmissive regions, wherein each of the first transmissive regions is located directly over one of the light sources respectively and the thickness of the first transmissive regions is greater than that of the second transmissive regions. Thus, the backlight module can provide plane light source with better uniformity. Besides, a liquid crystal display having the backlight module mentioned above is also provided.
