Abstract
The invention of a catalytic heat exchanger which can generate extra heat is proposed for use in the heat generation system of combustion. In the proposed device, it contains a catalytic heat exchanger and flow control devices. The flow control device is composed of a logical unit and four temperature probes which are placed at the inlet and outlet of working fluid streams of the heat exchanger. Temperature signals are processed in the logical unit to control the flow rate of fluids to achieve the prescribed outlet temperature. In the case of the catalytic heat exchanger, catalysts are coated on the surface of the tube, plate, and fin that directly contact with working fluid of heat source. The working fluid of heat source contains burnt gases and unburned hydrocarbon (UHC) as well as carbon monoxide that generate extra heat on the catalyst coated surface of heat exchanger via catalytic surface reaction. Hence, the proposed device is not only used as a heat exchanger but also generate extra heat from unburned hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide so that the thermal efficiency is enhanced and the pollutant emission is reduced. In addition, an alarm sensor is also installed to monitor the emissions of the working fluid to ensure the application safety of the proposed device. In summary, the proposed patent is a heat exchanger that ensures safety from emissions of toxic carbon monoxide and unburned hydrocarbon and produces high efficiency with extra heat generation.
