Abstract

The invention is to provide as a feature-based digital head data structure and a head texturing method. The invention of feature-based digital head structure employs the ways of encoding surface depth image of the head, which is scanned by common stereoscopic scanner. The geodesic feature points and lines are extracted from head geometry. By interpolating the feature points and feature lines, we simplify and organize the structure of the human head by a limit number of points that is able to illustrate a realistic three-dimensional portrait of head. According to the structure of head, head features capture and dimensions by tape-measurements are able to be easily and uniquely obtained. The invention of texturing head invokes and pictures either from the cameras attached on the 3D scanner, or from digital photos taken from different angles. Therefore, the camera captured textures are then mapped on the structured head as a colorfully real-like portrait.
