Abstract

The present invention is directed to a digital electronic apparatus for inputting Chinese Pinyin and a Pinyin input method thereof. If a Pinyin input mode is selected, the digital electronic apparatus displays a first-step Pinyin input menu window. If a first Pinyin symbol is of an input-desired character is inputted, a display window for selecting English alphabetic characters allocated to a pressed key is display. If one alphabetic character is selected, it is determined whether the selected character is based on a single Pinyin symbol. If the selected character is based on a plurality of Pinyin symbols, a second-step Pinyin input menu window is displayed to input a second Pinyin symbol among characters whose initial is the first Pinyin symbol of the selected alphabetic character. If inputting an input-desired character is not completed, a third Pinyin input menu window is displayed which includes Pinyin symbol that can be successively displayed on the first- and second-step Pinyin menu windows. If a third Pinyin symbol is inputted, a Chinese character corresponding to the inputted Pinyin symbol is displayed.
