Abstract
Disclosed is a method and a device capable of stably manufacturing extremely short fibers while minimizing miss-cut, and particularly, when the extremely short fibers with a fiber length of 0.1 mm or shorter are provided. A large number of monofilament groups are bundled to form a fiber bundle, a bury and wrap material solidified by cooling and evaporated or liquefied by heating is formed in a gas phase or liquid phase, and the fiber bundle is buried and wrapped by the bury and wrap material formed in the gas phase or liquid phase. The end face of the fiber bundle buried and wrapped at a temperature at which the bury and wrap material is not evaporated or liquefied is cut off in slice shapes to provide short fibers with a cut fiber length of 1 mm or shorter.
