Abstract

Chair for enhancing comfort when required to be seated for long durations, such as in aeroplane, auditorium, theater, waiting lounge, :automobile, library and the like. When for use in a public seating arrangement having multiple chairs laid one behind the other, a foot rest (210) is provided on the chair, at a height H from the floor level (220), the foot rest (210) on a first chair (100a) being usable by a person seated on asecond chair (100b) that is behind the first chair (100a). In another aspect, the foot rest (210) is provided at a front side (290) of the chair at a height H that is closer to a seat level (280) than to the floor level (220), for use by a person seated on the same chair, while having to lift the knee joints significantly above the seat level (280).
