Abstract

The dispensing module comprises a main body having an inlet port for coupling to a feeding tube, a flow regulator and a plunger switch. The inlet port of the main body is in communication with a dispensing chamber. The dispensing chamber is further in communication with a plunger chamber. The flow regulator comprises a flow control knob and a regulator extension which has external screw threads matching internal screw threads of the dispensing chamber. This allows the flow control knob of the flow regulator to be rotated to vary the volume of the dispensing chamber when the regulator extension is screwed into the dispensing chamber. A stopper ball is biased by a spring against the regulator extension to closes off communication between both the inlet port and the plunger chamber with the dispensing chamber. When the plunger switch is depressed into the plunger chamber., a plunger extension of the plunger switch comes into contact with the. stopper ball and displaces it against the bias of the spring. This displacement of the stopper ball then re-establishes the communication between both the inlet port and the plunger chamber with the dispensing chamber. Varying the volume of the dispensing chamber thus results in varying the strength of the bias of the spring on the stopper ball.
