Abstract
The materials containing vanadium and carbon are employed for the manufacture of certain steels. These materials are prepared by heating a mixture of vanadium oxide and carbon in vacuum. These substances also contain sulphur present as impurity in the starting carbon and impairing the qualities of the steels. Using the present process the sulphur content is reduced by adding silicon, silica or tin to the mixture.
