Abstract

The disclosure concerns a manifold (10) provided with a number of pipe studs. At an outer side portion (56) of the housing (18) there are provided a first slot (20) and a second slot (22) A normal (74) of an opening (66) of the first slot (20) is directed at an angle (a) within a range of 60 - 120 degrees to a normal (76) of an opening (68) of the second slot (22). Thus, the manifold is configured to be easily mounted to a structure of a vehicle.

Claims (23)

1. A manifold (10) for a heat exchange system (4), the manifold (10) comprising a housing (18) being provided with a number of pipe studs (11), wherein an internal space (54) of the housing (18) is arranged in fluid communication with the pipe studs (11), wherein at an outer side portion (56) of the housing (18) there are provided a first slot (20) having a U-shaped cross section and a first longitudinal extension (62) extending in parallel with a bottom portion (63) of the first slot (20) and a second slot (22) having a U- shaped cross section and a second longitudinal extension (64) extending in parallel with a bottom portion (65) of the second slot (22), wherein an opening (66) of the first slot (20) is arranged opposite to its bottom portion (63) and an opening (68) of the second slot (22) is arranged opposite to its bottom portion (65), wherein the first and second longitudinal extensions (62, 64) extend in parallel, and wherein a normal (74) of the opening (66) of the first slot (20) is directed at an angle (d) within a range of 60 - 120 degrees, preferably at an angle (oi) within a range of 80 - 100 degrees, or more preferably at an angle (oi) within a range of 85 - 95 degrees to a normal (76) of the opening (68) of the second slot (22).

The manifold (10) according to claim 1, wherein the first slot (20) is delimited between first and second wall surfaces (88, 90) of the first slot (20) and the bottom portion (63) of the first slot (20), and wherein the second slot (22) is delimited between first and second wall surfaces (92, 94) of the second slot (22) and the bottom portion (65) of the second slot (22).

The manifold (10) according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the first slot (20) is provided between a first ridge (96) and a second ridge (98), the first and second ridges (96, 98) extending from the outer side portion (56) of the housing (18), and wherein the second slot (22) is provided between a third ridge (100) and a fourth ridge (102), the third and fourth ridges (100, 102) extending from the outer side portion (56) of the housing (18).

The manifold (10) according to claim 3, wherein surfaces of the first and second ridges (96, 98) form the first and second wall surfaces (88, 90) of the first slot (20), and wherein surfaces of the third and fourth ridges (100, 102) form the first and second wall surfaces (92, 94) of the second slot (22).

The manifold (10) according to any one of claims 2 - 4, wherein the first wall surface (88) of the first slot (20) extends substantially in parallel with the normal (74) of the opening (66)of the first slot (20), and wherein the first wall surface (94) of the second slot (22) extends substantially in parallel with the normal (76) of the opening (68) of the second slot (22).

The manifold (10) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein first and second outer surface portions (104, 106) extend perpendicularly to the first longitudinal extension (62) and are arranged at opposite ends of the first slot (20), and wherein third and fourth outer surface portions (108, 110) extend perpendicularly to the second longitudinal extension (64) and are arranged at opposite ends of the second slot (22).

The manifold (10) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the housing (18) comprises a first housing portion (58) and a second housing portion (60), wherein the outer side portion (56) of the housing (18) includes side portions of the first and second housing portions (58, 60), and wherein the first and second slots (20, 22) extend along the first and second housing portions (58, 60).

The manifold (10) according to claim 7 and any one of claims 1- 6, wherein the first slot (20) has a first slot portion (1 12) formed in or at the first housing portion (58) and a second slot portion (1 14) formed in or at the second housing portion (60), and wherein the second slot (22) has a third slot portion (1 16) formed in or at the first housing portion (58) and a fourth slot portion (118) formed in or at the second housing portion (60).

The manifold (10) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein at the outer side portion (56) of the housing (18) there is provided a third slot (23) having a U-shaped cross section and a third longitudinal extension (78) extending in parallel with a bottom portion (80) of the third slot (23), wherein the third longitudinal extension (78) extends in parallel with the first and second longitudinal extensions (62, 64), wherein an opening (82) of the third slot (23) is arranged opposite to its bottom portion (80), and wherein a normal (84) of the opening (82) of the third slot (23) is directed in parallel with the normal (76) of the opening (68) of the second slot (22).
10. The manifold (10) according to claim 9, wherein third slot (23) is delimited between first and second wall surfaces (120, 122) of the third slot (23) and the bottom portion (80) of the third slot (23).
11. The manifold (10) according to claim 9 or 10, wherein the third slot (23) is provided between a fifth ridge (124) and a sixth ridge (126), the fifth and sixth ridges (124, 126) extending from the outer side portion (56) of the housing (18).
12. The manifold (10) according to claim 11, wherein surfaces of the fifth and sixth ridges (124, 126) form the first and second wall surfaces (120, 122) of the third slot (23).
13. The manifold (10) according to any one of claims 10 - 12, wherein the first wall surface (120) of the third slot (23) extends substantially in parallel with the normal (84) of the opening (82) of the third slot (23).
14. The manifold (10) according to any one of claims 9 - 13, wherein fifth and sixths outer surface portions (128, 130) extend perpendicularly to the third longitudinal extension (78) and are arranged at opposite ends of the third slot (23).
15. The manifold (10) according to claim 7 and any one of claims 9 - 12, wherein the third slot (23) has fifth slot portion (132) formed in or at the first housing portion (58) and a sixths slot portion (134) formed in or at the second housing portion (60).

An arrangement (30) for a heat exchange system (4) of a vehicle (2), the arrangement (30) comprising a manifold (10) according to any one of the preceding claims, a bracket (16), and at least first and second elongated members (12, 14), wherein the first and second elongated members (12, 14) extend in parallel, wherein the first elongated member (12) extends through the bracket (16) and in the first slot (20) of the manifold (10), and wherein the second elongated member (14) extends through the bracket (16) and in the second slot (22) of the manifold (10).

The arrangement (30) according to claim 16, comprising a manifold (10) according to any one of claims 9 - 15 and a third elongated member (15), wherein the third elongated member (15) extends in parallel with the first and second elongated members (12, 14), and wherein the third elongated member (15) extends through the bracket (16) and in the third slot (23) of the manifold (10).

A heat exchange system (4) for a vehicle (2) comprising a manifold (10) according to any one of claims 1 - 15, the heat exchange system (4) further comprising conduits (31) connected to at least some of the pipe studs (11) of the manifold (10), wherein the conduits(31) are configured to lead to and/or from one or more of a heat exchange element (32) of a battery pack (28), a pump (34), an expansion device (36), and/or an internal combustion engine (38).

A vehicle (2) comprising a heat exchange system (4) including a manifold (10) according to any one of claims 1 - 15, wherein the manifold (10) is connected to a structure (6) of the vehicle (2) via at least first and second elongated members (12, 14) arranged in the first and second slots (20, 22) of the manifold (10).
20. The vehicle (2) according to claim 19, comprising a bracket (16) connected to the structure (6) of the vehicle (2), and wherein the manifold (10) is connected to the structure (6) of the vehicle (2) via the bracket (16).
21. The vehicle (2) according to claim 19 or 20, wherein the vehicle (2) is an electrical vehicle, and wherein the heat exchange system (4) is a heat exchange system (4) of one or more battery packs (28) of the vehicle (2).
22. A method (200) for mounting a manifold (10) according to any one of claims 1 - 15 in a vehicle (2), wherein the method (200) comprises steps of: - providing (202) first and second elongated members (12, 14) in the vehicle (2), - placing (204) the manifold (10), via the opening (66) of the first slot (20), with the bottom portion (63) of the first slot (20) onto the first elongated member (12), - pivoting (206) the manifold (10) about the first elongated member (12) such that the bottom portion (65) of the second slot (22) abuts against the second elongated member (14), and - tightening (208) the first and second elongated members (12, 14).
23. The method (200) according to claim 22, comprising a step of: - attaching (210) a bracket (16) to the structure (6) of the vehicle (2), and wherein the step of providing (202) the first and second elongated members (12, 14) in the vehicle (2) comprises a step of: - positioning (212) the first and second elongated members (12, 14) to extend in parallel through the bracket (16).
