Description
Description Technical Field The present invention relates to automated cooking of food at home.
Background Cooking food in a pot often involves pouring ingredients (chopped vegetables, meat, spices, water) and stirring at different stages of the cooking. This is mostly done manually as a person needs to be present to perform various tasks.
The idea describes a cooking machine that can take over the cooking process once all the ingredients are provided in the beginning.
The ingredients include pouring the initial oil in the pot. Filling the water container. Adding spices to the different spice containers and adding food items into different food boxes. Now the machine is controlled remotely by a mobile device through an application that provides the user with an interface to control entire process manually or recipe selection process where once the recipe is selected the application takes care of the cooking until completion.
For manual control ofthe cooking process there are controls on the application that includes raising the temperature ofthe hot plate, pouring the spices, food, water and mixing at desired intervals while controlling the temperature of the hot plate as needed.
Description of Embodiments Embodiments ofthe invention will be described with reference to Fig 1-4. ln cooperation with the attached drawings, the technical contents and detailed description of the present invention are described thereinafter according to a preferable embodiment, being not used to limit its executing scope. Any equivalent variation and modification made according to appended claims are covered by the claims.
Reference will now be made to the figures to describe the embodiments in detail. The same reference signs are used for corresponding features in different figures.
Reference is made to flg¿, which is a cooking machine 100 for cooking recipes in a pan/ pot in accordance with the first embodiment. The cooking machine comprises of a hot plate 114 which could work with either induction or heating coils.
A cooking pot 116 that would be used to cook the food. The cooking pot may be of non-stick in nature and its material is not limited to be made of any material like stainless steel, copper or aluminum.
A motorized food pouring mechanism that includes food containers 101 connected to rotation joint 109. The shape of the food containers is made so it could be aligned around the pot in symmetric fashion. The food containers 101 connect to rotation joint 109 through a quick release latch mechanism, so they can be detached, and raw food can be filled after chopping. The material of the food containers used may be but is not limited to being plastic. lt should be able to handle higher temperatures since its position is close to the pot. Rotation joint 109 consists of a servo motor attached that is connected to the base platform. The signals from control circuit 115 align the servo to the desired angle so to invert the food container into the pot thereby transferring the food into the cooking pot There is also provision to rapidly change angles by a small factor to create shaking of the container. This would allow the food that sometimes can stick to the wall of the container to fall in the pot thereby minimizing the wastage.
A motorized spice pouring mechanism consisting of spice containers 102 and spice rotation fixture 110 that allow the spices to be put into the cooking pot. The alignment is made in a way that a single motor could be used to pour the contents of the spices one at a time into the cooking pot 116. Spice containers are placed on spice track 117 whose design is similar to cable guides. The control signals to the motor connected to spice rotation fixture are calibrated to move spice track 117 towards the cooking pot so one spice container (one of four) 102 is inverted above the cooking pot 116 at a time. This allows the contents of the spice container 102 to fall into the cooking pot 116. There is also provision to rapidly move track back and forth by a small distance to create a shaking mechanism so spices sticking to walls and bottom of spice containers falls into the cooking pot As shown in fig¿, there is a water container 108 and water pump 113. Water is filled in container before cooking starts and measured quantity of water can be poured into cooking pot 116 during the cooking process.
A mixing mechanism 105 (flg¿ & figå) comprising of a support tower 103 on which support arm 104 can move vertically up and down into the cooking pot 116. Vertical motion of the support arm 104 is controlled by a tower motor 111 that has a lead screw actuator mechanism. The support arm is connected to a planetary mixer 107 and radial mixer 118 through mixer motor 112. Planetary mixer design is chosen as it is found to be effective in covering entire bottom of pan and mixing the food evenly. During cooking support arm 104 lowers the planetary mixers into the cooking pot 116 and then mixer motor 112 initiates the mixing. Mixers can be made up of, but not limited to food grade silicone rubber that can withstand high temperatures and offers flexibility to not chop food further when support arm 104 is lowered into the cooking pot There is a variety of sensors used to measure different parameters during operation to provide feedback to the control circuit. Those are depicted in An ultrasonic range sensor 205 is used for measuring the quantity of water in the water container 108. An infra red non contact temperature sensor 203 is used to constantly monitor the temperature of the pot. A position sensor 204 is used to measure the position of the mixer as it needs to be in correct orientation when food is poured from food containers 101 to avoid any possibility of collision. There is a set of limit sensors (top and bottom) 201 to limit the vertical position of mixing mechanism. Another distance sensor 202 also helps to control the position ofthe mixer into the pot, this is needed as sometimes we need to stir the food at different distances from the base of the pot. The machine stays with an enclosure 208 so during cooking the moving parts do not get in contact with user. There is a door sensor 206 on the access door 207 that keeps the machine safe from human intervention during cooking process. ln case door is operated during cooking, the machine would come to a halt to keep the user and machine safe.
All operations and feedback from sensors are controlled by control circuit 115 that communicates with the mobile application 200 in The communication between control circuit and mobile application would be done using either Bluetooth / Wifi connectivity. Additionally, the components of the cooking machine, including, but not limited to mixer motor 112, spice rotation fixture 110, water pump 113, tower motor 111, hot plate 114 are operatively connected to and controlled by the circuitry and/or a program control device 115.
