Abstract

Burning diesel oil with little excess oxygen may be performed while limiting the maximum temperature in one single step by means of a method, which according to the invention comprises feeding back of a very large part of the exhaust gases to the combustion zone after they have released part of their heat contents, but before they have left the combustion apparatus. The invention also relates to a device for working the method. This comprises a fuel injection device 1, at least one introduction duct 3 directed towards this for gas containing oxygen, and an exhaust duct 2, 8, 11 containing a heat exchanger 4, 5 cooling the exhaust gases. A channel 12 for introduction of pure oxygen gas opens into an introduction duct 3 and corresponds with the exhaust duct 11 downstreams of the heat exchanger 4, 5 in such a way that the pure oxygen gas is mixed with the cooled exhaust gases by ejector action. <IMAGE>

Description

8063953-9 |\> syrgas för medverkan i förbränningen. 8063953-9 | \> oxygen for participation in combustion.

The invention also relates to a device for carrying out the new method, which device comprises a centrally arranged fuel injection device, surrounded by a number of radially directed supply channels for oxygen-containing gas and an exhaust duct for exhaust gases formed during combustion of the fuel, said duct contains a heat exchanger intended to use the heat content of the exhaust gases for heating a working medium and the device is according to the invention characterized in that said exhaust duct downstream of said heat exchanger is connected to said supply channels and that channels for supplying substantially pure oxygen supply to said exhaust gas supply ducts as ejectors intended to return some of the exhaust gases to the combustion.

The invention will be described in more detail in the following with reference to the drawing, which schematically shows in vertical section a device according to the invention.

In the drawing, 1 denotes a fuel injection nozzle intended to introduce fuel - for example diesel oil - into a combustion chamber 2. A number of channels 3 directed radially towards the nozzle 1 are intended to supply oxygen-containing gas for combustion in the combustion chamber 2. A heat exchanger consisting of pipes 4 and 5 contain a working gas for an engine with external combustion. This engine has not been shown in detail apart from the upper part of a cylinder 6 and a regenerator housing 7. The exhaust gases formed during combustion in the combustion chamber 2 pass through the pipes 4 and emit part of their heat content. Then they pass a channel 8, which is bounded by a sheet metal wall 9 and an insulating casing 10. From the channel 8, which has substantially rotationally symmetrical boundary walls, a number of vertically directed channels 11 lead, of which only one is shown in the drawing. An oxygen supply channel 12 opens into the duct 11. The mouth has been arranged diametrically opposite the channel 3, the channels 3, 11 and 12 having such relative locations and dimensions that an ejector device is formed. The ratio between the mass flow of recycled exhaust gases and the mass flow of recycled oxygen 1 'of the 3-channel gas can be between three and five, if the temperature 1' of the combustion chamber 2 is desired to be at about 1850 ° C and the temperature 1 'of 8 at 850 ° C.
