The invention relates to metallurgy, and more particularly to continuous casting of metals. The technical effect when using the invention is to increase the productivity of continuously cast ingots of high quality. The indicated technical effect is achieved by supplying liquid metal from a casting ladle to a vacuum chamber, creating a residual pressure in it, processing the metal in a vacuum chamber, supplying metal to an intermediate ladle through a branch pipe and then to crystallizers. Metal is fed from the vacuum chamber to the intermediate ladle using an additional nozzle. After raising the level of the metal in the intermediate ladle above the lower ends of the nozzles and sealing the vacuum chamber with liquid metal, the metal in the intermediate ladle is circulated vacuum by supplying an inert gas to one of the nozzles. After creating a predetermined residual pressure in the vacuum chamber at the same time as circulating evacuation in the intermediate ladle, the metal is processed in the vacuum chamber, while the volume of metal in the intermediate ladle is divided into three zones: the middle and two extreme ones, and the circulating vacuum is carried out in the middle zone, and the ratio of the volumes of metal located on the bottom of the vacuum chamber and in the middle zone of the intermediate ladle is set in the range of 0.4 - 0.6. The invention is intended for use in installations for continuous casting of metals having equipment for continuous evacuation.
