Abstract
Description
The invention relates to non-destructive testing by the ultrasonic method and can be used to determine the size of defects in the inspection of products in automated control installations.
A known method of tuning the flaw detector (AS 1073699, MKI G 01 N 29/04, 1982), which consists in the fact that in a reference sample with a normalized defect, ultrasonic vibrations are excited, echo signals from the defect are received, the defect is scanned along its entire length while fixing the amplitudes of the signals, these amplitudes select the level of sensitivity of the flaw detector. In addition, the probability of detecting a defect is determined by the ratio of the length of the defect sections from which the amplitude of the echo signal is higher than the specified reception level to its total length. The disadvantage of this method is the inability to classify defects into long and local and determine their size.
An object of the invention is the determination of the size of defects in products and their classification into extended and local.
The problem is solved in that in the method for determining the size of defects during ultrasonic inspection of products, which consists in the fact that the products are scanned by an ultrasonic transducer, at the same time they excite ultrasonic vibrations and the amplitude of the received signals and the distance between the positions of the ultrasonic transducer judge the size of the defects according to the invention , before testing the product with an ultrasonic transducer, a tuning sample is scanned having a calibrated defect whose size is an order of magnitude and more than the wavelength of the excited ultrasonic vibrations, record the amplitudes of the received signals and the corresponding amount of movement of the transducer, determine the threshold level of the amplitude of the received signal and compare the amplitudes and distances between the positions of the ultrasonic transducer of the product and the sample, and when the signal amplitude reaches the maximum value, the defect is classified as extended and its dimensions are defined as the distance between the positions of the Converter, pr and in which the signal amplitude is equal to the threshold level, and if the signal amplitude from the defect does not reach a maximum value, the defect is classified as local and its value is defined as the distance between the positions of the converter, at which the signal amplitude changed from zero to the value of the obtained amplitude.
The specified set of features is new and has an inventive step, since it allows you to classify defects into long and local, which divides the products into final defects and suitable, and determining the size of defects in suitable products allows you to judge the reliability of the products, determine the terms and conditions of their operation.

In FIG. 2 shows a graphical representation of the main results of installation setup.
In FIG. Figure 3 shows the distribution curve of the ultrasonic signal when scanning the product.
The directional pattern of the piezoelectric transducer (hereinafter referred to as the probe) is obtained by symmetric refraction of the portion B - C of curve 1 at point A max / 2. One of the main standard characteristics of the probe - the width of the ultrasonic beam at the level of -6 dB (Δ) - is defined as the distance between the points of curve 1 having the amplitude A max / 4 and 3 / 4A max . The threshold level by which the dimensions of extended defects are determined is determined from the condition that the width of curve 1 is equal to the size of defect L. Section B - C of curve 1 is a graphical representation of the dependence of the signal amplitude on the magnitude of defects whose dimensions are smaller than the beam width. If there is no defect in the area of the ultrasound beam, the signal amplitude is A 0 . If the magnitude of the defect in the beam zone is equal to or greater than the beam width, the signal amplitude is A max . If a defect of size X 0 <X 1 <X max is found in the beam area, the signal amplitude will be A 0 <A 1 <A max .
The method was used to control products in an automatic installation equipped with a device for determining the coordinate of scanning.
Before the start of control, the installation was set up. It consisted in the fact that an ultrasonic transducer was scanned in increments of an order of magnitude smaller than the size of the ultrasonic beam of a tuning sample that simulates a controlled product that has a defect whose dimensions exceed the calculated dimensions of the ultrasonic beam. A sample with an artificial calibrated defect of 6 mm was used. The control was carried out using an ultrasonic flaw detector UD 2-12. The signal was taken from the peak detector of the flaw detector, digitized and stored in the computer memory with each measurement linked to the scan coordinate. The maximum amplitude of the signal from the defect was 6.5V. In this case, the total beam width at the level of -25dB was 2 mm, the beam width at the level of -6dB was 0.95 mm. By the value of the artificial defect equal to 6 mm, a threshold signal level was determined. He was 2.2 V.
Then the product was checked. The control was that the product was scanned with an ultrasonic transducer. During the scan, a signal was taken from the peak detector of the flaw detector, digitized, and stored in the computer memory, with each measurement linked to the scan coordinate. During inspection of the product, two peaks of the flaw detector signal were noted. One of them was 6.5V, and the other 3.4V.
The defect, the signal from which amounted to 6.5 V, was classified as extended and its dimensions were determined as the distance between the points of the distribution curve of the signal amplitude at which the signal amounted to a threshold level of 2.2 V. The defect size was 4.3 mm.
The defect, the signal from which amounted to 3.4 V, was classified as local and its dimensions were determined as the distance between the positions of the converter, at which the signal amplitude during tuning changed from 0 to 3.4 V. The defect size was 1.1 mm (see figure 2).
Thus, the use of this control method makes it possible to determine the dimensions of both extended and local defects in the product, as well as their location.
