Description

 The invention relates to the production of coins, and in particular to methods of manufacturing coins having protection against counterfeiting in the form of a relief structure located along the perimeter of the end face of the coin.
 A known method of manufacturing a game token with an end marking by cutting a token from a layered plate consisting of differently colored plastic layers and containing a central layer with a flat painted liner installed through an opening in the central layer (FR 2767657, Mcl A 44 C 21/00, 1999).
 The known method allows to obtain markings on the end face of the token in the form of a rectangle, which also performs a protective function.
 However, this method is implemented only on a plastic product.
 A known method of manufacturing a metal playing token with an identification mark on the end face in the form of protrusions grouped around the perimeter of the end face (US 3350802, NKI 40-27.5, 1965).
 The number of protrusions grouped in groups located along the perimeter of the end may vary, which is also protection against fake.
 The mark is applied to the surface of the end face in the form of protrusions with a triangle profile and is groped, similarly to the coins of the Russian Federation, where marks along the perimeter of the end face of the coin are marked in the form of protrusions with the profile of a rectangle.
 However, both labels with a triangle profile and labels with a rectangle profile are simple to implement and their protective function is currently insufficient.
 Known methods for producing more complex microreliefs on a metal surface that perform protective functions on payment documents.
 For example, a known method of manufacturing a metal element for the formation of a hidden sample against counterfeiting banknotes, bank documents and passports, including the formation of a decorative surface and on its basis the creation of various types of patterns (RU 2091239, Ml. B 42 D 15/10, 1997).
 At the same time, a metal plate is used as the metal element (base), the thickness of which is comparable with the thickness of the profile cliché (matrix). Thus, the known method provides a satisfactory result (relief structure with a hidden image) on a metal foil.
 It is difficult to obtain a three-dimensional relief on a metal surface in a layer of the metal itself in a known manner.
 The closest analogue of the present invention is a method of manufacturing a coin, comprising forming a decorative surface with an isosceles trapezoid profile on a workpiece, creating a microrelief of symbol elements by embossing with the formation of various types of patterns, and minting the workpiece (RU 2151535, Ml. A 44 C 27/00, 2000).
In this case, a decorative surface with an isosceles trapezoid profile is formed at an angle between the sides of the trapezoid 80-120 o , and the creation of a latent image by creating a microrelief of the elements of the symbols of the figure is carried out on the side faces of the formed surface.
The angle between the sides of the trapezoid 80-120 o provides such a ratio of the dimensions of the upper and lower base of the trapezoid, which makes it possible to obtain an identification mark on the surface of the coin, which protects the coin from counterfeiting by forming a hidden image on the decorative surface.
 In this case, the decorative surface in the known method is formed by engraving the workpiece or by stamping using a matrix obtained by the proposed method.
 Protection against counterfeiting coins, implemented in a known manner, is created in a layer of the metal itself mechanically.
 The known method is technological, because provides simultaneous minting of coins and security tags with high quality of the created microrelief of security tags.
 However, the present requires an increase in the degree of protection of means of payment, including coins, which determines the direction of the proposed method.
 A new technical result from the use of the present invention is the creation of a higher degree of protection against counterfeiting of a coin by forming another degree of protection on the face of the coin by forming a groove with a predetermined profile and a protective microrelief on the side of the groove profile around the perimeter of the coin face.
This result is achieved by the fact that in the method of manufacturing a coin, which includes forming a decorative surface on the preform with an isosceles trapezoid profile, creating a microrelief of symbol elements by embossing with the formation of various types of patterns and stamping the blank, forming a decorative surface is carried out at the end of the blank in the form of a single groove by crimping end of the preform perimeter and the subsequent indentation tool with the corresponding profile when the angle between the sides of the trapezoid 5-25 o, and with danie microrelief is performed on the lower base of the trapezoid to the coinage.
 In this case, the character elements on the lower base of the groove profile are embossed either along the entire width of the face, or along the middle part of its width, or along the upper or lower part of its width with the size of the characters from 1/3 to 2/3 of the width of the lower base, or at the same time upper and lower parts of its width with the size of characters from 1/4 to 2/4 of the width of the lower base.
 As symbols, numbers, letters of the alphabet, geometric shapes, or combinations thereof can be used.
 In this case, the symbols of the figure can be located as a solid pattern along the perimeter of the coin, or be grouped along the perimeter of the end face with a different distance between the groups, as well as with a different number of characters grouped into groups.
 The proposed method for the manufacture of coins can be implemented on metals of various hardness and allows to obtain a three-dimensional relief on a metal surface in the layer of the metal itself.
 The drawing shows the end face of the coin, protected from counterfeiting by creating a security element around the perimeter of the end face of the coin in the following way. On a milling machine, a pre-cut metal disk (a blank for coin production) is subjected to deformation along the perimeter of the disk by compression to form a lip along the perimeter of the end face, then a groove with an isosceles trapezoid profile is formed on the flat edge by pressing the curly plate of the instrument. In this case, the depth of the formed surface depends on the height of the relief of the figured plate and thus can have a different value, and the width of the lower base of the groove also depends on the specified angle between the sides of the trapezoid.
Then, on the lower base of the trapezoid with an angle between the sides of 8 o , a microrelief is applied over the entire width of the face in the form of a pattern shown in the drawing by embossing.
 The microrelief is located on the entire end of the coin in the form of a continuous ribbon. Moreover, the larger base of the groove profile is 2/4 of the thickness of the coin.
 The inscription written on the decorative surface formed at the end of the coin can be either convex or concave.
 The subsequent operation of the proposed method is the coin minting. At the same time, while minting the front surfaces of the coin, straight lines equidistant from each other are minted onto the edge of the coin.
 Thus, the proposed method allows the manufacture of coins with another degree of protection against counterfeiting in the form of a relief structure located along the perimeter of the end face of the coins.
 Moreover, the method is technological and is mechanized, providing serial production of such coins from metals of different hardness.
