Abstract
Description
The invention relates to methods for cooling electronic equipment.
The known method [1], implemented in devices that are a metal body filled with heat-absorbing substance (for example, paraffin, naphthalene, etc.), on the surface of which there are electrical elements. In these devices, the heat released by electro-radio elements is absorbed during the phase transition of a heat-absorbing substance (during melting). The disadvantage of this method is that the amount of absorbed heat is limited by the volume and heat of phase transformations of the heat-absorbing substance.
A known method of manufacturing a heat sink gasket [2] for placement between a heat sink and a mounting plate with mounted electrical components, comprising installing a heat sink on the mounting plate from the side of mounting mounted electrical components to form a assembly with gaps between the housing of the electrical components and the mounting plate, as well as heat sink, respectively, filling the unit with a heat-conducting compound in a liquid state with a metered mass with filling the above gaps and holding node in the curing mode of the heat-conducting compound. Between the heat sink and the circuit board with radio electronic elements, a hollow closed shell of elastic polymer material is placed, which is filled with the above compound. After the compound has cured, the shell is removed.
The disadvantage of this method is the suitability of such a gasket only for this particular board with electro-radio elements. In the event of replacement of any electro-radio element, it is necessary to manufacture a new gasket corresponding to the new location of the replaced electro-radio element.
The technical result of the invention is to increase the efficiency of heat removal by providing reliable thermal contact between the material filling the gap and the surfaces of the radio electronic elements due to the elasticity of the dividing heat-conducting partition, as well as creating a reliable thermal bridge between the limited surface of the radio electronic elements and the developed surface of the heat sink due to the use of material that melts at operating temperatures. Increase in maintainability is ensured by the fact that when any electrical element is changed, thermal contact is restored when the filling material is melted.
The technical result is achieved by the fact that in the method of cooling the radio elements on the circuit board from the side of the placement of the radio elements on it, a heat sink is installed with the formation of a node with gaps between the surfaces of the heat sink facing one another, the cases of the radio elements and the board, the node is filled with heat-conducting material and the board with the radio and radio elements establish an elastic separation a heat-conducting partition, and a melting substance is used as a heat-conducting material, rate The melting point of which is in the operating temperature range of electro-radio elements.
A device that implements the proposed method is presented in the drawing. A circuit board 1 with radio-electronic elements 2 is installed in the housing 3. A heat-conducting elastic dividing wall 4 made of material of the type Sil-Pad K4 or Sil-Pad 2000 is applied to the surface of the radio-electronic elements 2 (Bergquist Company. Products and electronic components of heat transfer control: advertisement / 5300 Edina Industrial Blvd. Minneapolis, MN55439, 1966), the ends of which are pinched in the housing 3. The heat-conducting elastic dividing wall 4 and the housing 3 form a volume that is filled with liquid heat-conducting material 5, for example paraffin. This volume is closed by a heat sink 6 (for example, a radiator).
The method is implemented as follows. The heat flux from the outer surfaces of the housings of the electrical elements 2 through the heat-conducting elastic dividing wall 4 is transferred to the heat-conducting substance 5. A part of the heat flux is absorbed when the heat-conducting material 5 is melted, the rest of the heat flux is transferred to the heat sink 6, from which it is discharged into the environment. The heat-conducting elastic dividing partition 4 allows for reliable thermal contact on the path of the heat flux to the heat sink. The phase transition (melting) of the heat-conducting material also contributes to this.
A thermal model was made that imitated this method of cooling radio-electronic elements. The thermal equivalents of microchips with a total power of 70 W were placed on the board. Sil-Pad 2000 material was used as an elastic partition. The gap between the elastic partition and the heat sink, which uses a radiator, is filled with paraffin.
