Claims (4)

1. A method of producing highly active homo- and copolymers of isobutene with a terminal vinylidene content of more than 80 mol% and a number average molecular weight of 500 to 10,000 Da, characterized in that isobutene or isobutene is polymerized with suitable monomers for copolymerization in the presence of a catalyst based on transition metal of the General formula

in which M means a metal from 3-12 periods of the Periodic system of elements;
R 1 means an alkyl residue with 1-8 carbon atoms;
And means a weakly coordinated anion.
2. The method according to claim 1, characterized in that the polymerization is carried out at a temperature of from 0 to 100 ° C.
3. The method according to claim 1, characterized in that the polymerization is carried out in the presence of an inert organic solvent.
4. The method according to claim 1, characterized in that the catalyst is used in a molar ratio of from 1: 15000000 to 1:10 relative to the monomer used.
