An ashtray is known from the prior art (RF Patent No. 2105512, publ. 02.27.1998), which is a housing with a cavity for receiving shaken off ash from smoldering cigarette butts of cigarettes and extinguished cigarette butts themselves. The disadvantage of this device is the lack of lighting and, therefore, a high probability of staining the floor, expensive upholstery of the sofa or a car seat with ash falling from the tip of a burning cigarette, in the absence of lighting, due to the inability to visually determine the location of the ashtray.

A device is known that relates to smoking accessories for collecting and extinguishing cigarette butts, selected as a prototype (Patent USD 362921 S, published 03.10.1995), which is a glass translucent housing with a cavity for receiving shaken off ashes of smoldering cigarette butts and extinguished cigarette butts. In the lower part of the housing there is a stand where the lighting elements, batteries and electrical circuits of their relationship are located. The main disadvantage of the prototype is the uneconomical consumption of electricity, since the batteries have a light bulb as a constant load, and, during long-term operation, if the user forgot to turn off the power, the device’s batteries will run out quickly. In addition, with the constantly lit backlight of the ashtray located in the vehicle interior, glare on the cockpit glazing distracts the driver's attention when driving.

The objective of this utility model is to improve the positive psychological and physiological sensations of a person during smoking, in a private house or in the car, by creating a reliable device with ease of manufacture, an energy saving function, and. providing fire safety during its operation.

The inventive device (FIG. 1) has an infrared photodiode 1 and infrared LED 2 mounted on opposite sides of the glass beaker in the cutouts of the upper part of the glass translucent tray 4.

The light-transmitting tray 4 is rigidly connected, by gluing, to a plastic stand 5, inside which there is a printed circuit board 12 with electronic SMD components 9, backlight LEDs 3 and a backlight LED 11 located on top of the plastic stand 5, at the bottom of the light-tight tray 4. On the board 12 also there is a switch 6 and a connector for the charger 10. The batteries 8 are located under the printed circuit board 12. The infrared photodiode 1 and infrared LED 2 are connected to the printed circuit board by means of a wire 7, lying inside the glass translucent tray 4.

The device operates as follows. As long as there are no fingers of the user's hand shaking off the ashes from a cigarette in the sensor’s response area, consisting of infrared photodiode 1 and infrared LED 2, the backlight LEDs 3 are not turned on. As soon as the user's hand enters the sensor response zone, the infrared LED 2 reflected from it falls on the infrared photodiode 1, which changes resistance by activating the photo relay circuit, which includes the backlight - LEDs 3. When the user’s hand leaves the sensor coverage area, the backlight LEDs 3 go out. For the convenience of finding the device in the dark, a rectangular pulse generator with a pause between pulses, built-in on one printed circuit board 12 with a photo relay circuit, includes a beacon backlight 11 with a frequency of once every 15 seconds when the backlight LEDs 3 are off.
