Description
Oppfinnelsen vedrører transparente termoplas-tiske støpeblandinger på basis av celluloseestere og av organiske syrer og etylen/vinylacetat-kopolymere. Blandingene kan eventuelt også inneholde et lavmolekylært mykningsmiddel. Det er kjent at cellulose kan forarbeides termisk bare etter
at det er blitt forestret med visse organiske syrer og også
da i mange tilfeller bare etter tilsetning av et lavmolekylært mykningsmiddel. De tre hydroksylgrupper av anhydroglukose-enhetene av cellulose er istand til å forestres med mange organiske syrer, men i praksis benyttes hovedsakelig celluloseacetat, celluloseacetopropionat og celluloseacetobutyrat. Disse estere benyttes til å fremstille støpeblandinger, såvel som acetatsilke, blokkacetat(celluloseacetat-holdige form-masser som etter deres fremstilling ved oppvarming til 100°C formes til blokker i presser), substrater for sikkerhetsfilmer, elektriske isoleringsfolier og lakk.
Støpeblandinger av celluloseacetat kan ikke behandles termisk uten tilsetning av lavmolekylære mykningsmidler, fordi celluloseacetat begynner å dekomponere før
i det mykner. For celluloseacetopropionat og celluloseacetobutyrater ligger også mykningspunktet og spaltningspunktet temmelig nær hverandre, således at støpeblandinger fremstilt av disse estere, også må tilsettes et mykningsmiddel før de forarbeides. Tilsetningen av slike mykningsmidler nedsetter i forarbeidelsestemperaturen i tilstrekkelig grad.
De mykningsmidler som anvendes for organiske celluloseestere, er hovedsakelig alifatiske estere av ftalsyre, adipinsyre, azelainsyre, sebacinsyre og fosforsyre, eksempel-vis dimetylftalat, dietylftalat, dibutyladipat, dioktyladipat, ) dibutylazelat, trikloretylfosfat og tributylfosfat. Det er også fordelaktig å bruke blandinger av mykningsmidler. Enskjønt slike støpeblandinger som er tilsatt mykningsmiddel, er tilstrekkelig transparente, vil det for mange formål være ønskelig å forbedre deres dimensjonsstabilitet ved høyere ; temperaturer. Videre migrerer mykningsmidlet til overflaten
av de støpte artikler over en tidsperiode, således at f.eks. folier av slike myknede celluloseestere ikke kan benyttes til emballasje for visse næringsmidler.
Blandingen av organiske celluloseestere, lavmolekylære mykningsmidler og etylen-kopolymere er omtalt i BRD-patent nr. 1.303.219 svarende til britisk patent nr. 1.004.204. Imidlertid er alle de nevnte kopolymere rene hydrokarboner (uten polare grupper), og disse støpeblandinger er ikke transparente, hvis det har et høyt kopolymerinnhold. Videre er myknerne som benyttes i disse blandinger vanlige lavmolekylære estere, som har de velkjente ulemper.
Fra US-patentskrift nr. 3.682.850 er det kjent blandinger av slike cellulose-estere og etylen/vinylacetat-kopolymerer, og patentskriftet viser at man kunne fremstille forlikelige lakkfilmer i de tilfeller hvor vinylacetatinn-holdet i kopolymerene var 75 vekt% eller høyere. Forlikelig-heten viste seg ved at filmene ble transparente ("optically clear"). Patentskriftet lærer imidlertid at blandingene blir uforlikelige hvis vinylacetat-innholdet i kopolymerene er lavere enn 75 vekt%.
Det er nå overraskende funnet at støpeblan-dinger uten ovennevnte ulemper kan oppnås, hvis cellulose-estere blandes med visse kopolymere av etylen og vinylacetat.
Oppfinnelsen vedrører derfor en termoplastblanding som som plastkomponenter inneholder: a) 95-70% av en cellulose-ester, valgt fra gruppen -aceto-butyrat, -propionat og -acetat, og b) 5-30% av en etylen-kopolymer, hvor prosent-angivelsene refererer til den samlede vekt av
de to komponenter,
idet blandingen erkarakterisert vedat etylenkopolymeren er en etylen/vinylacetat-kopolymer, inneholdende 30-75 vekt% vinylacetat.
Støpeblandinger som er spesielt foretrukket består av:
a) 94,99-70 vekt% celluloseester,
b) 5-30 vekti av en etylen/vinylacetatkopolymer inneholdende 60-75 vekt% av vinylacetat ogc) 0,01-20 vekt% av en lavmolekylær mykner. Summen av komponentene a) til c) er 100 vekt%.
Det er overraskende at støpeblandingene ifølge oppfinnelsen er transparent og har meget gode mekaniske egenskaper.
Celluloseacetobutyrater av følgende sammensetning er spesielt egnet for støpeblandinger ifølge oppfinnelsen:
42-46% smørsyre
18-21% eddiksyre og
1,0-1,7% hydsroksyl.
Spesielt foretrukne celluloseacetopropionater har følgende sammensetning:
54-58% propionsyre
5- 8% eddiksyre og
1,5-1,8% hydroksyl.
De anvendte celluloseacetater er fortrinnsvis sekundære celluloseacetater.
De angitte prosentsatser ovenfor og i det følgende er vekt%, og deler er vektdeler.
Den relative viskositet (nrel,) av 2% aceton-oppløsninger av de. celluloseestere som benyttes er mellom
3,5 og 4,5 og fortrinnsvis mellom 4,0bg 4,5 (25°C).
Etylen/vinylacetat-kopolymerene fremstilles ved kjente metoder ved polymerisasjon ved høyt eller middels trykk, eventuelt i oppløsningsmidler som tertiær butanol.
Etylen/vinylacetat-kopolymere som er fremstilt ved høytrykkspolymerisasjon, har en smelteindeksverdi (ifølge DIN 53.735 ved 190°C og under en vekt på 2,16 kp) på mellom 0,1 og 100, fortrinnsvis mellom 4,5 og'6. Grense-viskositeten målt i tetralin ved 120°C, er vanligvis mellom 0,6 og 1,5. Molekylvektene (bestemt ved lysdiffusjonsmetoden) er fortrinnsvis mellom 50.000 og 1.000.000. Molekylvektfor-delingen definert ved uttrykket U= Mw/Mn- 1 (G. Schulz,
Z. phys. Chem. (B) 43 (1939), side 25-34) er i området på 5-30. Disse kopolymere oppløses lett i varme hydrokarboner. Etylen/vinylacetat-kopolymere, fremstilt eksem-pelvis ved oppløsnings- eller emulsjonspolymerisasjon, som inneholder f.eks. 30-75 vekt% og fortrinnsvis 60-75 vekt%
av vinylacetat, kan ha smelteindeksverdier (190°C, 2,16 kp)
større enn 100, men fortrinnsvis under 15 og spesielt mellom 0,5 og 5. Molekylvektene (bestemt ved lysdiffusjon) er fortrinnsvis mellom 40.000 og 1.000.000. Verdien av U er fra 1 til 6. Disse kopolymere er oppløselige i hydrokarboner og alkoholer og har fortrinnsvis grenseviskositeter på mellom 0,5 og 2,5 målt i toluen ved 25°C.
Eksempler på etylen/vinylacetat-kopolymere som anvendes:
Egnede mykningsmidler er dimetylftalat; dietylftalat; trifenylfosfat; metyl-ftalyl-etyl-glykolat; di-n-butylsebacat; etylftalyl-etyl-glykolat; butyl-ftalyl-butyl-glykolat; dibutylftalat; dioktyladipat; dioktyl-ftalat; butylbenzyl-ftalat og triacetin.
Fremstillingen av støpeblandingen ifølge oppfinnelsen utføres ved kraftig blanding av komponentene.
En hvilken som helst kjent blandemetode kan benyttes.
Blandingene kan også fremstilles via deres oppløsninger. I dette tilfelle oppløses komponentene i egnede oppløsningsmidler eller oppløsningsmiddelblandinger og deønskede støpeblandinger kan utfelles med egnede ikke-oppløsningsmidler, eller oppløsningsmidlet kan fjernes ved for-dampning. Metylenklorid og iseddik er egnede oppløsnings-midler for de organiske celluloseestere og etylen/vinylacetat-kopolymere. Utfellingsvæsken kan være hexan, hvis komponentene er blitt oppløst i metylenklorid.
Blandingene ifølge oppfinnelsen kan også inneholde visse andre tilsetninger for farving eller pigmentering eller forbedring av motstandsdyktigheten mot oksydasjon, lys-nedbrytning, brann og lignende.
Støpeblandingen ifølge oppfinnelsen viser en merkbar forbedring i snittslagseighet, målt ifølge DIN
53.453, og i dimensjonsstabilitet ved forhøyet temperatur, bestemt f.eks. som Vicat-mykningstemperaturen ifølge DIN 53 460.
Vicat-temperaturen er opptil 40°C høyere enn
den tilsvarende mykningstemperatur av celluloseestere som er blitt modifisert med lavmolekylære myknere.
Sammenlignet med disse vanlige støpeblandinger
av celluloseestere som inneholder lavmolekylære myknere,
viser blandingen ifølge oppfinnelsen også forbedrede mekaniske egenskaper som hårdhet, strekkfasthet, bøyningsmodul og elastisitetsmodul.
Blandinger av organisk celluloseester og etylen/ vinylacetat-kopolymer er praktisk talt fri for den velkjente migrering (mykningsmiddelvandring) og er derfor spesielt egnet for formål hvor de kommer i kontakt med næringsmidler,
i Den forbedrede motstand av blandingen overfor varm luft gjør det mulig å benytte den utendørs.
Blandingene ifølge oppfinnelsen kan benyttes
for fremstilling av formede artikler,av enhver type og for fremstilling av cetåtsilke, blokkacetat, substrater for ; sikkerhetsfilmer, pakningsmateriale, elektrisk isolerende folier og lakker.
Blandingene kan behandles kontinuerlig eller satsvis i kjente ekstrudere og sprøytestøpemaskiner utjsn noen vesentlig vanskelighet og har gode flyteegenskaper under disse
> betingelser.

Eksempel 1- 15
Celluloseacetobutyrat inneholdende 42-46% smør-syre, 18-21% eddiksyre og 1,0-1,7% hydroksylgrupper, blandes ' kraftig med etylen/vinylacetat-kopolymere på valser ved 170°C som angitt i følgende tabell.
Valsearkene granuleres og ekstruderes deretter til prøvegjenstander i en sprøytestøpemaskin som arbeider ved
en massetemperatur på 2 30°C.
I eksemplene merket L er polymerblandingene fremstilt som oppløsninger og deretter utfelt. 10%-ige opp-løsninger i metylenklorid av celluloseacetobutyrat og etylen/vinylacetatkopolymere blandes, og polymerblandingen utfelles med hexan. De fremkomne blandinger tørkes og ekstruderes deretter som nevnt ovenfor til prøvegjenstander.

Eksempel 16- 29
Celluloseacetopropionat inneholdende 54-5 8% propionsyre, 5-8% eddiksyre og 1,5-1,8% frie hydroksylgrupper, blandes godt med etylen/vinylacetat-kopolymer på en valse ved 180°C som angitt ifølgende tabell.
Valsearkene granuleres og ekstruderes deretter i en sprøytestøpemaskin som arbeider ved en massetemperatur på 240°C for å danne prøvegjenstander.
I eksemplene merket L er polymerblandingen fremstilt som oppløsninger som etterpå utfelles som angitt i Eks. 1-15.
Når de samme cellulose-acetopropionater blandes med dibutyladipat, har prøvene meget lavere Vicat-verdier.
Eksempler 30- 33
Sekundært celluloseacetat blandes godt med etylen/vinylacetat-kopolymer på en valse ved 220°C som angitt i følgende tabell.
Valsearkene granuleres og ekstruderes deretter i et sprøytestøpeapparat ved en massetemperatur på 2 30°C for å danne prøver.
I eksemplene merket L fremstilles polymerblandingen som oppløsninger som deretter utfelles som angitt i eksemplene 1-15.
Claims (1)
- Termoplastblanding som som plastkomponenter inneholder: a) 95-70% av en cellulose-ester valgt fra gruppen -acetobutyrat, -propionat og -acetat og b) 5-30% av en etylen-kopolymer, hvor prosent-angivelsene refererer til den samlede vekt av de to komponenter,Ikarakterisert ved at etylenkopolymeren er en etylen/vinylacetat-kopolymer, inneholdende 30-75 vekt% vinylacetat .
