Description

Tent frame and hinge for this

The present invention relates to a tent frame provided with foldable uprights formed of preferably resiliently flexible upright sections interconnected by lockable hinges, which hinges include a first and second hinge members each with the associated upright section and by a hinge. pins are interconnected, and further provided with a locking device which is provided with a first locking member slidably connected to the first hinge part connected in the direction of a locking position, and a second locking member formed on the second hinge part, with which the first locking member the meshing engages in a desired mutual angular position of the post sections.

Such a tent frame is known, for example, from US patent 4,750,509. This patent shows a dome tent which is provided with a tent frame which has no loose parts and can be easily set up by pulling up a central ridge element to which the posts are hingedly attached. The hinge locking device in the foldable posts comprises a sliding sleeve as a first locking member and an extension on a hinge sleeve as a second locking member. To lock each hinge, the sliding sleeve must be pushed away from the extension against the action of a spring, after which the post sections can be brought into line with each other and by sliding the sliding sleeve over the extension then a locking of the style sections take place.

The invention now aims to provide a tent frame of the type mentioned in the preamble, which, with a simpler construction, enables a more reliable operation and an even easier setting up of the tent.

For this purpose, the tent frame according to the invention is characterized in that the first locking member is a locking pin accommodated in the first hinge part and the second locking member is a locking cavity formed in the second hinge part in which the locking pin engages in its locking position.

Due to the internal mounting of the locking pin and the locking cavity in the hinge parts, there is considerably less chance that the locking device cannot come into the locked position due to an external cause or is simply moved out of the locking position by an external force and thus the stability of the tent endanger. Furthermore, the construction according to the invention makes it possible in a simple manner for the locking device to act automatically by bringing the post sections into the desired angular position, for instance by stretching the posts, so that it is no longer necessary to hinge all the joints by separate operations to lock. A possible embodiment of this is that in which the second hinge part on the side facing the first hinge part is provided with a run-up surface extending from the cavity in the hinge direction against which the spring-loaded locking pin rests in the unlocked position of the hinge. In this embodiment, when the pillar sections are pivoted to the set up position, the locking pin will move along the leading-up surface to the locking cavity and will be automatically moved into the locking cavity by the spring load. In this way, the tent can be set up in a directly locked position with one movement.

According to the invention it is advantageous if the first and second hinge parts are formed identically to reduce the number of parts and thus simplify the tent frame.

In order to further increase the stability of the tent frame in the erected position of the tent, it is advantageous if the uprights are connected at their upper ends by further hinges to a central ridge element and these hinges are equipped with a further locking device connecting the uprights of the ridge element in the erected position of the tent.

Due to this locking between the central ridge element and the posts, it is no longer possible that an external force on the tent causes it to lie flat because the posts and the central ridge element start to pivot relative to each other.

Furthermore, according to the invention it is advantageous if the posts are connected at their lower end to a corner element which can be fixed to a ground sheet of the tent, which allows an adjustment of the bottom end of the associated post in inward and outward direction.

This adjustable connection between the posts and the associated corner elements makes it possible to bring the tent fabric into a well-tensioned condition, even if the resiliently flexible posts put too much or too little tension on the fabric and also if the posts have the central cam element are locked and therefore this connection cannot exert any tension on the tent fabric.

The invention also comprises the hinge for use in the tent frame described above and the tent which is provided with the tent frame described above.

Adjacent stile sections 10 within a stile 5 are interconnected by a hinge 11 which allows the stiles 5 to be folded, such as with dashed-dotted lines in the center of Fig. 2 is illustrated. Each hinge part 16, 17 is provided with a bore 21 for receiving the associated post section 10, which in this case is fixed in the associated hinge section 16, 17 by means of a post section end section 22, respectively. 23. The opposite locking position is limited by protrusions 32 at the end of the end portion 22 remote from the locking pin 31. A helical compression spring 33 arranged around the end portion 22 loads the locking pin 31 in the direction of the locking position, the spring 33 being enclosed between a shoulder on the one hand which is formed by the transition between the first and second bore portion 24, 25 of the first hinge part 16 and on the other hand a shoulder formed by the transition between the thinner part 27 and the locking pin 31 of the end part 22. The locking pin 31 and with it the locking device 15 can now be unlocked by pulling the post section 10 as far as the stop of the locking pin 31 from the first hinge part 16, the locking pin 31 moving out of the locking cavity formed by the bore 21 of the second hinge part 17 and the hinge parts 16 and 17 can be rotated relative to each other about the hinge pin 18. It can be seen in Figs. 3 and 4 that a hinge 36 is formed on the hinge parts 16 and 17, which is intended for hooking a loop 37 (see Fig. 2) of the tent cloth 1. Figures 6 and 7 show in detail the central cam element 6 with the pivotally connected stiles 5. This connection is effected via the hinges 12 which are formed with the previously described first hinge part 16 with the locking device 15. As a result, a a large number of parts are used which are also used for the hinges 11. These parts can be recognized in fig. 6 and 7. The locking cavity is formed in the central cam element 6 by a half bore 38 which, in the locking position of the hinges 12, together with the half bore 21 of the first hinge part 16 forms a bore into which the locking pin 31 can insert. Fig. 6 clearly shows the operation of the ramp surface 35, which in this case is formed on the central cam element 6 instead of on the second hinge part 17. Fig. 8 shows an alternative embodiment of a hinge 11 between two jamb sections 10, in which the jamb sections in the locking position are not aligned, but form an angle α deviating from 180 °. The first hinge part 16 with the post section end part 22 and the locking pin 31 can again be retained, but the second hinge part 17 is in this case a special part that deviates from the first hinge part 16. Because the second hinge part 17 has a different design, the post section 10 is glued directly into a bore 39 of the second hinge part 17, again positioning members 30 'and 10' being provided. A half bore 40 in the second hinge part again forms the locking cavity for the locking pin 31.

Fig. 9 shows in detail the corner element 7 with a toothing 41 for forming a number of support cavities 42 in which a hinge pin 18 of the hinge part 17 can engage at the lower end of the corresponding post 5 for positioning this lower end of the post 5.

Fig. 10 shows an even further improved embodiment of the hinge of fig. 3.   2. A tent frame according to claim 1, wherein the second hinge part on the side facing the first hinge part is provided with a run-up surface extending from the cavity in the hinge direction against which the spring-loaded locking pin rests in the unlocked position of the hinge.
