Description

Packaging

The present invention relates to a package comprising a casing for receiving a medium, such as a gas and / or liquid, via a spout, which spout can be closed by means of a cap.

The object of the invention is to improve such a package in the sense that the package can be quickly filled with medium or quickly de-mediumed, and afterwards the medium pressure in the package can be set to a predetermined value. This is achieved with a package according to the invention which comprises an envelope with an opening; a spout connecting to the opening with a cap fitted on the spout; and a valve closing the opening, said valve comprising a valve body provided with at least one passage extending over the opening, and an inner channel arranged in the cap which extends over the passage and of which a channel edge forms a valve seat for the valve body.

Fast filling and emptying of the packaging is realized by removing the cap guided on the spout and thereby removing the channel edge from the valve body, whereby a relatively large medium passage is created.

Bringing the packaging to an exact pressure is achieved by moving the cap over the spout such that the channel edge makes contact with the valve body in a sealing manner. By subsequently applying medium pressure to the valve body via the channel, the valve body will be temporarily pushed away from the channel edge until the medium pressure has been equalized. If the medium pressure in the package is greater, the medium pressure in the package can be reduced by temporarily lifting the valve body off the channel edge using a tool.

A favorable packaging according to the invention arises if a distance a from the valve seat to the valve body is adjustable. This is preferably achieved if the cap is threaded to the spout. The distance a is thus adjustable by turning the cap more or less on the spout.

An optimum valve body is obtained if the valve body is further preferably a disc with passages arranged therein spread over the circumference. Thus, when pressure is applied to the valve body, the disc is lifted from its channel edge over its entire circumference.

If the medium pressure in the package is to be reduced by temporarily lifting the valve body from the channel edge, it is preferable that the valve body is provided with a stub extending into the cap channel. The stub can thus serve for the tool intended for lifting the valve body.

In order to realize a good functioning of the valve, it is further preferred that a sealing ring is arranged around the stub, with which the channel edge cooperates. Optimal sealing is obtained with the packaging according to the invention if the cap is provided with a sealing ring which cooperates with a spout rim surrounded by the cap.

The package according to the invention can be assembled easily and quickly if, furthermore, the spout is preferably attached to the casing by means of a washer.

Mentioned and other features of the packaging according to the invention will be further elucidated hereinafter on the basis of the description of an exemplary embodiment, with reference to the attached drawing.

In the drawing, Figures 1-3 are each a partly broken away side view of a packaging according to the invention with the flap in the different tilting positions; and figure 4 shows a perspective view of a valve body used in the packaging according to the invention.

1-3 show a package 1 according to the invention. The package comprises an envelope 2 consisting of a plastic inner jacket 3 and an outer jacket 4 of cardboard. It will be clear, however, that an envelope 2 consisting exclusively of a plastic or other suitable material can also be used. The casing 2 is provided with an opening 5 through which a spout 6 extends, which is fixed by means of a spout flange 7 to the casing 2, in particular to the inner jacket 3. A coupling of this assembly to the outer jacket 4 is realized by means of a washer 8, with cams 9 arranged over the circumference on the spout 6 lying in recesses 10 of the outer jacket 4. It will be clear that the spout can also be used with a casing in which the spout flange is directly attached to the casing 2.

A cap 12 is arranged on the spout 6 by means of a threaded connection 11. In the central part 13 of the cap 12 an internal, inwardly extending channel 14 is provided, which adjoins a search edge 15.

A disc-shaped valve body 16 is attached to the spout 6 at the level of the flange edge 7. As shown in Figure 4, the valve body 16 comprises eight circumferential orifices 17 arranged circumferentially around a boss 19 provided with a recess 18. The orifices 17 are positioned to lie in the space bounded by the channel 14 and the spout 6.

A channel edge 20 resting on a flat sealing ring 21 functions as a valve seat.

Proper sealing of the cap space 22 in contact with the interior of the package 1 is further achieved by means of an internal cap strip which abuts the inner surface of the spout, and around which is provided a sealing ring 24 resting against a spout edge 25 A rib 26 prevents undesired displacement of the sealing ring 24.

Figure 2 shows the situation in which pressurized medium according to the arrow 27 is supplied via the channel 14 to the package 1. The valve body 16 will thereby move in the direction of the arrow 28, thereby creating a space between the channel edge 20 on the one hand and on the other hand the sealing ring 21. Through this gap 29, medium can get further through the passages 17 into the package 1. A desired medium pressure can thus be accurately applied in the package 1.

It will be clear that the medium pressure in the package 1 can also be reduced relatively accurately by lifting the valve body 16 from the channel edge 20 in the direction of the arrow 28 with the aid of a tool that supports in the recess 18 of the stub 19.

Figure 3 shows the situation in which medium can be quickly introduced into and out of the package 1. To this end, the cap 12 is screwed upwards over a distance b, so that a relatively wide gap 29 is created between the channel edge 20 and the sealing ring 21, along which medium can quickly pass in and out of the package 1. The sealing with the aid of the sealing ring 24 ensures a regular entry and exit of medium. A leakage along the threaded connection 11 is hereby avoided.

It is noted that the precise adjustment of the medium pressure in the package is adjustable by screwing the cap 12 more or less far onto the spout 6.

Claims (8)

  1. Packaging comprising an envelope with an opening; a spout connecting to the opening with a cap fitted on the spout; and a valve closing the opening, said valve comprising a valve body provided with at least one passage extending over the opening, and an inner channel arranged in the cap which extends over the passage and of which a channel edge forms a valve seat for the valve body.
  2. Packaging according to claim 1, wherein a distance a from the valve seat to the valve body is adjustable.
  3. The package of claim 2, wherein the cap is threaded to the spout.
  4. A package according to claims 1-3, wherein the valve body is a disc with passages disposed circumferentially therein.
  5. Packaging according to claims 1-4, wherein the valve body is provided with a stub extending into the cap channel.
  6. Packaging according to claim 5, in which a sealing ring is arranged around the stub, with which the channel edge cooperates.
  7. Packaging according to claims 1-6, wherein the cap is provided with a sealing ring which cooperates with a spout rim surrounded by the cap.
  8. Packaging according to claims 1-7, wherein the spout is attached to the casing by means of a washer.
