Abstract
The vacuum-tight shrunk pipe connection comprises a part (12) with cylindrical bore(11) into which a second part(10) with slightly larger dia. is fitted. At least one part (10) has a sharp edge (17) subject to, or causing, plastic deformation on fitting together, and one part(10) is an initially flat flange which takes on a dished shape on first fitting. The flange is joined to a thin cylindrical tube(13) by a thin-walled collar(14) on the flange which surrounds the tube and is plastically deformed together with it.
