Abstract

A synchronous motor has a two part coaxial stator. Each part of the stator has an annular winding forming part of a soft iron magnetic circuit which includes the toothed rotor. The end of the stator has two sets of such slots or teeth corresponding to those of the rotor and offset from them by a half step. The stator has a built in annular compensation winding positioned coaxially between the two parts of the stator shunting the magnetic circuit proper of the motor. The laminated stator can be adjusted through the motor carcase altering the position of the ends of the stator within the motor air gap.
