Abstract

Dissolved organic impurities are removed from aq. liquids (e.g. tap waters) by precolating over an anion exchanger in the pres. of 0.5-10 ppm of aluminium or ferric ions. Pref. the water is first demineralised over a cation exchanger in the acid form, an Al or Fe (III) salt is added to the required conc. and the water is percolated over an anion exchanger in salt or hydroxy form. Treated waters are useful e.g. as boiler feed waters.
