Description

Title: Device for positioning slaughtered chickens or other poultry.

The invention relates to a device for positioning slaughtered chickens or other poultry, comprising: a number of mutually placed movable suspension hooks, one behind the other, each with two suspension brackets for receiving parts of the legs of a chicken, means for to move the suspension hooks, positioning means for positioning chickens hanging from the suspension brackets, which positioning means each comprise at least the following parts: two pressing brackets between which a chicken hanging from a hanging hook can be inserted, which pressing brackets are connected to a pivotable operating piece about a horizontal axis so that it can cooperate with guide means such that when the suspension hooks are moved, the pressing brackets are pivotable between a low position and a high position, and at least one resilient back plate against which a chicken can be pressed by the pressing brackets - in the high position thereof.

Such a device is known from US-A-4564977 and can be used, among other things, to align the butt of slaughtered chickens with a butt drill. It can thereby be achieved that the cutting edge of the vent drill engages the meat surrounding the vent. For example, by generating vacuum in the drill, the sheet can be drawn into the drill to facilitate cutting of the meat around the vent by the rotary drill. The resilient arrangement of the back plate compensates for different back thicknesses of the chickens, that is to say that positioning the drill well centered relative to the butt 25 is possible in chickens with a relatively thick as well as with a relatively less thick rag. The pressing brackets of each pair have a fixed mutual distance in the known device. This has the drawback that if a chicken has a relatively large width, it will not fit between the cylindrical brackets. The chicken will also not be pressed against the back plate and the anal drill will engage on the chicken in the wrong place, at least relative to the anal center, which can lead to unsanitary conditions.

The object of the invention is to avoid this drawback and for this purpose the device mentioned in the preamble 1008634 2 is characterized by means, in addition, when the pressing brackets are moved from the low to the high position, a movement from a widely spread position to a less widely spread position. trigger brackets.

It is noted that from US-A-5569072 a device for positioning slaughtered chickens or other poultry is known, comprising a number of mutually arranged movable suspension hooks placed one behind the other, each with two suspension brackets for receiving parts of the legs of a chicken means for moving the suspension hooks and positioning means for positioning chickens hanging from the suspension brackets, said positioning means each comprising two vertically displaceable hip stirrups which move from a relatively wide spread position to a relatively less wide spread position during a movement from bottom to top. However, the hip brackets do not hinge during their upward movement and there is also no spring back plate. The combination of hip braces that perform a hinge movement instead of a purely vertical movement, and a spring back plate has a favorable effect on the accurate positioning of the chicken.

In a possible embodiment, said operating part consists of a cylindrical part which rotates into a cylindrical opening of a fixed mounting part belonging to a suspension hook, which operating part is provided on two front sides with a cross-shaped recess, in which a bracket part and a transverse part of a pressing bracket are j, wherein cam means are arranged on the operating piece, near the edge with said cross-shaped recess, with which said bracket part of the pressing bracket can cooperate to effect said displacement from a widely spread position to a less widely spread position.

In order to prevent damage in the case of wide chickens when taking up the less widely spread position of the clamping brackets, it is preferable that each clamping bracket consists of two parts which are connected to each other via resilient means.

The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to the figures, in which an exemplary embodiment is shown.

Figure 1 shows a side view of a mechanism according to the invention.

The device shown comprises a number of suspension hooks arranged one behind the other, each with two brackets 1 in which the legs of a slaughtered chicken are accommodated. In a manner known per se (see, for example, Dutch patent 1006286), these hooks are suspended from trolleys, which are provided with wheels which run on a running rail. The trolleys are connected by a chain. The chain can be driven by a motor (see also US-A-4564977).

When the chain is driven, the suspended chickens pass a number of processing stations intended to remove all kinds of organs from the chickens. To enable this removal, a hole is drilled at the location of the butt of the chickens with the aid of a drill 2. This drill must be accurately centered with respect to the butt, ie that so much meat is bored around the butt 25. that no unsanitary conditions arise.

In order to give the butt of the chickens the desired position with respect to the drill 2, use is made of pairs of clamping brackets 3 which are pivotable about a horizontal axis in a manner to be explained, between a low point indicated by dashed lines 30 in FIGS. 1 and 2. position and a high position indicated by solid lines. In this movement, the chicken is pressed against a double back plate 4, which plate can be pressed away against springs 5.

A loop-shaped height stop bracket 6 is arranged above each pair of clamping brackets 3, which ensures that the chicken does not assume too high a position when pressed by the clamping brackets 3. In the case of a relatively wide chicken, to prevent it from fitting between the clamping brackets 3, provisions have been added to make the brackets 3 of each pair in the low position in a widely spread position (see distance b between the free ends of the stirrups 3 in Figure 2) with the stirrups of each pair assuming a less wide spread during the upward hinge movement (see distance a between the free ends of the stirrups 3 in Figure 2).

A very wide chicken always fits between the clamping brackets 3 in its low position and is clamped between the brackets 3 at the upward hinge ring of the brackets 3. To prevent damage to the chicken under all circumstances, the clamping brackets consist of two parts which are connected to each other by a leaf spring 7 (or other resilient means). The short part of the clamping brackets is indicated by 3a and the long part 15 by 3b.

The longest parts of the clamping brackets 3 can thus deflect against spring force, which is indicated by dashed lines in Figure 4.

The clamping brackets 3 are connected by the said provisions to the mounting piece 8 to which, among other things, the springs 5 are attached. In the mounting piece 8 a cylindrical hole 9 is recessed into which a cylindrical operating piece 10 rotatably fits. This operating piece is provided on both end walls with a cross-shaped incision with a channel section 13 for receiving the short part 3a of a pressing bracket 3, 25 and with a channel section 12 for receiving a rod 11 arranged perpendicular to the bracket 3.

In order to keep the short part 3a of the clamping brackets 3 and the rod 11 thereof in the incision parts 13 and 12, use is made of cover shells 30, which are fastened to the operating piece 10 with bolts 15. The two cover shells are connected to each other by a connecting piece 16 on the underside to which a guide roller 17 is arranged. This roller can cooperate with a cam disk 18 on the inside of the roller 17 and a guide rail 19 on the outside of the roller 17. The aim of this 1008634 cooperation is to make the operating piece rotate within the cylindrical recess 9 such that the pressing brackets between a low position (dashed lines in figure 2) and high position (solid lines in figure 2) can move.

When the low to high position of the clamping brackets 3 is turned, the one short part 3a of the clamping brackets is tilted by the cam 20 into the recess 21, the recessed portion 22 in the channel 13 allowing that tilt. The tilt results in a less spread position of the clamping brackets 3.

Claims (3)

  1. Device for positioning slaughtered chickens or other poultry, comprising: a number of mutually arranged movable suspension hooks, one behind the other, each with two suspension brackets (1) for receiving parts of the legs of a chicken, means for moving hooks, positioning means for positioning chickens hanging from the hanging brackets, which positioning means each comprise at least the following parts: two pressing brackets (3) between which a chicken hanging on a hanging hook can be inserted, which pressing brackets are connected to a horizontal axis hinged operating piece (10) which can cooperate with guide means (12, 13) such that when the suspension hooks are moved, the clamping brackets (3) are hinged between a low position and a high position, and at least one resilient back plate (4) against which a chicken can be pressed by the pressure brackets (3) - in its high position - characterized by means (10, 1 1, 12, 13, 20, 21, 22) in addition to effecting a movement of the clamping brackets from the low to the high position, a movement from a widely spread position to a less widely spread position. - 20

Device according to claim 1, characterized in that said actuating piece (1) consists of a cylindrical part which rotatably fits in a cylindrical opening (9) of a fixed mounting part (8) belonging to a suspension hook, said actuating piece (10) on two front sides are provided with a cross-shaped recess (13, 12), in which a bracket part (3a) and a transverse part (11) of a pressing bracket (3) are accommodated and that on the operating piece, near the edge with said cross-shaped recess, cam means (20, 21) are provided with which said clamping bracket portion (3a) can cooperate to effect said displacement from a widely spread position to a less widely spread position.
