Description
- 1 -
Hinge construction and used parts.
The invention relates to a hinge construction which hinges a wing to a fixed part and which comprises two hinge parts which are respectively attached to the wing and to the fixed part and each have a hinge leaf and at least one eye connected thereto, the eyes surround a common hinge pin.
In known hinge constructions of this kind, the blades are fixedly positioned on the fixed part and the wing, respectively, so that a very accurate mounting of these blades is required and no play of the wing in the fixed part is possible after this mounting, so that the closing mechanism of the wing does not always work properly.
20
Only a height adjustment of the wing is possible with these hinge constructions to a limited extent by placing rings between the eyes of the hinge parts. This setting is neither simple nor accurate.
The object of the invention is a hinge construction which does not exhibit these and other disadvantages and which permits a secure and accurate adjustment of the wing relative to the fixed part in a relatively simple manner both during and after mounting.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that the hinge leaf of one of the hinge parts 1007057 - 2 - is composed of two superimposed parts which are elongated parallel to the hinge pin and which, when the hinge leaf is fixed by mounting bolts or screws on a profile frame of the wing or the 05 fixed part is fixed, clamped together by these fasteners, the side of at least one of the parts facing the other part showing at least one level difference in the transverse direction of the part 10 and the bottom part after releasing said fastening bolts or screws are laterally displaceable in said transverse direction relative to the upper part.
The distance from the eye and thus from the hinge pin to the profile strip on which the hinge leaf is attached depends on the relative position of the bottom part relative to the top and can be adjusted by sliding this bottom part.
20
In particular, at least one of the parts, for instance at least the bottom part, on the side facing the other part has at least two parts with level differences and for this purpose it has strips in relief along both longitudinal edges which point in the direction of the eye of vary the hinge part over at least a part of their width in the same sense and in the same degree in thickness, for instance to reduce it.
30
Preferably both the bottom part and the top part have at least one level difference on their facing sides, the 1007057-3 level differences in both parts being complementary and thus in opposite directions.
Thus, both parts may have strips in relief near their longitudinal edges 05 which vary in thickness transversely over at least a portion of their width, the thickness of strips of the lower part varying in opposite directions as the thickness of the strips of the upper part. .
10
In an even more preferred embodiment, the aforementioned level difference is stepped and, for example, the strips vary stepwise in thickness.
While in the above described embodiments the hinge construction is adjustable in the transverse direction, the hinge construction can also be adjustable in the direction parallel to the hinge pin.
For this purpose, according to the invention, one of the hinge blades is attached to a profile strip of the wing or the fixed part by mounting screws or bolts which pass through openings which are elongated parallel to the hinge pin.
25
Preferably, the hinge pin is vertical and the hinge construction includes an auxiliary member with a body attached below the lower end of the hinge leaf on said profile frame and an adjustment screw screwed therein to displace the hinge leaf when said mounting bolts or screws are loosened.
1007057 - 4 -
The invention also relates to the special parts of the hinge construction according to the invention and more particularly the actual hinge with the hinge blades and the aforesaid auxiliary part.
With the insight to better demonstrate the features of the invention, a preferred embodiment of a hinge construction and of components used according to the invention used therewith is described hereinafter as an example without any limiting character with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: figure 1 shows a front view of a hinge construction according to the invention mounted between a wing and a fixed part, with the wing opened by 180 ° relative to the fixed part; figure 2 represents a section according to line 20 II-II in figure 1, drawn on a larger scale; figure 3 shows a front view of one hinge leaf and the associated eyes from the hinge construction according to the previous figures; Figure 4 shows a front view of a part of the other hinge leaf of the hinge construction of Figures 1 to 3 with its eye connected thereto; figure 5 represents a rear view of what is shown in figure 4; Figure 6 shows a front view of another part of the hinge leaf of figures 4 and 5; 1007057 - 5 - Figure 7 shows a perspective view of yet another part used in the hinge leaf of Figures 4 to 6; figure 8 represents a section according to line 05 VIII-VIII in figure 1.
In figures 1 and 2 a hinge construction according to the invention is shown, which hingedly connects an upright profile strip 1 of a wing 2 of a window or door to an upright profile strip 3 of the fixed part 4.
These profile strips 1 and 3 can have any profile and are, for example, aluminum profiles with thermal break.
The hinge construction comprises an actual hinge with a hinge pin 5, a first hinge part consisting of a hinge leaf 6 and two eyes 7 connecting thereto, which surround the hinge pin 5 at a distance from each other and a second hinge part consisting of a hinge leaf 8 and an adjoining hinge leaf eye 9 which surrounds the hinge pin 5 between the eyes 7.
25
The hinge pin 5 is provided in its center with a circumferential groove 10 in which the end protrudes from a screw 11 with countersunk head screwed through the wall of the eye 9, such that the hinge pin 5 in the eye 9 is rotatable but not axially displaceable. The hinge pin 5 cannot be removed from the eyes 7 and 9 without removing the screw 11 from the circumferential groove 10, and this screw 11 is located in such a way that it is not accessible with a wing 2 that is closed.
1007057 - 6 -
The hinge leaf 6 is profiled in accordance with the side of profile strip 3 which faces the center of the wing 2 and is fastened to this side by two mounting bolts or screws 12 which, with the intervention of a washer 13, with their head the hinge leaf 6 against the aforementioned press on the side.
The fixing screws 12 hereby pass through slots 14 in the hinge leaf 6, which are elongated in the longitudinal direction of this hinge leaf 6 and thus also of the hinge pin 5.
In order to obtain a very firm fastening, they are not screwed directly into one side of the profile strip 1 15, but into hollow rivets 15 riveted in this side.
Underneath the lower end of the hinge leaf 6, on said side, an auxiliary part consisting of a body 16 and an adjusting screw 17 mounted in a vertical opening 18 extending through the body 16 is mounted.
The body 16 is provided on the back with a round stud 19 25 which protrudes into a corresponding opening 20 in the profile strip 3 and is provided at the top with a lip 21 which fits under the hinge blade 6, as shown in detail in figure 8. 1 1007057
The hinge leaf 8 is composed of two elongated co-operating parts 8A and 8B which are longitudinally oriented in the longitudinal direction of the hinge pin 5 and are attached to each other together on the profile strip 1 by mounting bolts or screws 22.
- 7 -
The lower part 8A, which is shown in detail in figure 6, is provided on its side facing the upper part 8B with an embossed strip 23 and 24 along both edges which, preferably over its full width as shown, to the outside, this is away from the direction of the hinge pin 5, increasing in thickness in steps.
The steps of both strips in relief 23 and 24 are the same size, but the outer strip 24 contains more steps and is therefore higher.
Halfway along its length, the part 8A is provided with an oval opening 25, while near both ends there is provided an opening 26 for a fastening screw 22 which is much larger, especially in the transverse direction of the part, than the cross section of this fastening screw 22 in order to obtain a relative allow movement of this part 8A relative to the fastening screw 20 22.
The upper part 8B connects to the eye 9 and, on its underside near its longitudinal edges, is also provided with two strips 27 and 28 with stepped relief which are complementary to the strips in relief 23 and 24 such that in the event of relative displacement in the transversely of the parts 8A and 8B relative to each other, the side located on the front side of the hinge leaf 8 parallel to the side of the profile strip 1 remains but is closer to or further from this side.
The above underside of the part 8A is shown in detail in figure 5.
1007057 - 8 -
This means that the strip in relief 27 over its entire width and the strip in relief 28 over a part of its width gradually increase in thickness in the direction of the hinge pin 5.
05
The inner strip in relief 27 has much more teeth than the outer strip 28.
The part 8A also has an opening 29 in the center, but it is round and smaller than the oval opening 25 in the part 8B.
In this oval opening 25 a round eccentric disc 30 is arranged which is fixed on a shaft 31 which rotates with one end in said opening 29 and with its other end in an opening 32 in the profile strip 1. The shaft 31 with the eccentric disc 30 is shown in detail in Figure 7. The end of the shaft 31, which is located in the opening 29, is provided with a hexagonal cavity 33, so that the shaft 31 can be rotated with a hexagonal pin.
Also the two openings 34 in the part 8B for the fastening screws 22 are much smaller than the corresponding openings 26 in the part 8A so that these fastening screws 22 fit correctly.
These fastening screws 22 are, like the fastening screws 12, screwed into hollow rivets 15 which are riveted in openings in the profile strip 1.
1007057 - 9 -
All mounting screws are Allen screws and have a hexagonal cavity, but it is evident that they can also be cross-head screws or ordinary screws.
05 Setting the hinge construction is simple and as follows.
A height adjustment is obtained by unscrewing the fastening bolts or screws 12 a little so that the hinge leaf 6 is displaceable in its longitudinal direction relative to the profile strip 3.
By turning the adjusting screw 17 in the body 16 in one sense or the other, the hinge blade 6 resting on it is pushed up or lowered into the desired position, after which the fixing bolts or screws 12 are tightened again.
20
In this way, all the hinge constructions with which a wing 2 is connected to the fixed part 4 can be adjusted in height, so that the complete wing 2 can also be adjusted in height in the opening of the fixed part.
To adjust the hinge construction in the horizontal direction, the mounting bolts or screws 22 are first loosened.
30
The eccentric disc 30 is then rotated in the oval opening 25 by means of a pin which is inserted in the cavity 33 of the shaft 31, so that the lower part 8A moves sideways to the hinge pin 5 or away from it, according to the direction of rotation of the shaft 31.
Due to the displacement of this part 8A, the top 05 part 8B, which cannot be moved laterally by the mounting bolts or screws 22, is moved further or closer to the side of the profile strip 1.
10 Finally, the mounting bolts or screws 22 are screwed on again.
By adjusting all the hinge constructions in this way, the wing 2 can also be made to fit in the opening of the fixed part 4 in the horizontal direction.
This setting is quite simple and quick to perform.
The present invention is by no means limited to the embodiment described above and shown in the figures, but such hinge construction and parts therefor can be realized in different variants without falling outside the scope of the appended claims.
In particular, the hinge blades 6 and 8 can be exchanged so that the hinge blade 6 is thus attached to the profile strip 1 of the wing 2.
30
The number of eyes to which the hinge blades connect must also not necessarily be one or two respectively.
