Abstract
The present invention provides a carrier according to which it is possible to reduce the occurrence of marks or the like during processing, and that is used to process a magnetic-disk substrate having a good durability. The carrier of the present invention is a carrier for horizontally holding a substrate when main surfaces of the substrate are processed by pressing processing surfaces of surface plates against the main surfaces of the disk-shaped substrate and moving the processing surfaces of the surface plate and the substrate relative to each other. The carrier is made of a composite material including glass fibers and a resin material, and includes a holding hole for holding the disk-shaped substrate. The inner circumferential wall surface of the holding hole has a plurality of recessed portions that extend in a surface direction of the carrier and do not include glass fibers, and the plurality of recessed portions are filled with a resin.
