3 1 MECHANISM FOR MOUNTING AND DETACHING BATTERY ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A MECHANISM FOR MOUNTING AND DETACHING A BATTERY HAVING A FLAT RECTANGULAR PARALLELEPIPED SHAPE WITH A ROUGHLY SQUARE PRINCIPAL SURFACE INTO AND FROM AN 5 APPARATUS (IMAGE PICKUP APPARATUS) TO BE DETACHABLY EQUIPPED WITH THE BATTERY, WHEREIN A BACK SURFACE OPPOSITE TO AN INSERTION SURFACE FOR INSERTION INTO THE APPARATUS IS PROVIDED AT BOTH ENDS IN THE LONGITUDINAL 10 DIRECTION THEREOF WITH PROJECTED PORTIONS ALONG THE BACK SURFACE, WHEREBY MIS-INSERTION OF THE BATTERY INTO THE APPARATUS CAN BE PREVENTED NOTWITHSTANDING THE BATTERY HAS THE FLAT RECTANGULAR PARALLELEPIPED SHAPE WIZH THE ROUGHLY SQUARE PRINCIPAL SURFACE. THE PROJECTED PORTION IS I HAS AN INCLINED SURFACE INCLINED AT AN ACUTE ANGLE AGAINST THE BACK SURFACE, AND, AT THE TIME OF TAKING THE BATTERY OUT OF THE APPARATUS, THE INCLINED SURFACE RECEIVES A CONTACT PRESSURE OF A LOCKING MEANS, WHEREBY 20 DISCHARGE OF THE BATTERY IS PROMOTED. THE APPARATUS IS PROVIDED WITH A CUTOUT PORTION FOR EXPOSING THE OTHER PROJECTED PORTION OF THE BATTERY WHEN THE BATTERY IS MOUNTED IN THE APPARATUS, SO AS TO FACILITATE THE TAKING- OUT OF THE BATTERY. 25
