IN AN INFORMATION SIGNAL RECORDING METHOD FOR RECORDING ONE INFORMATION SIGNAL ON SLANT TRACKS FORMED ON A MAGNETIC TAPE (T) HOUSED IN TAPE CASSETTE USABLE IN A CONVENTIONAL MAGNETIC RECORDING AND REPRODUCING APPARATUS CAPABLE OF REPRODUCING ANOTHER INFORMATION SIGNAL BY USING A PLURALITY OF ROTARY HEADS (A1, A2,V1,V2) AND RECORDING A CONTROL SIGNAL (21A) USED AS A REFERENCE IN A TRACKING CONTROL DURING REPRODUCING OPERATION ON THE MAGNETIC TAPE (T), A DIGITAL INFORMATION SIGNAL(EE) IS RECORDED BY SHIFTING ROTATION PHASE OF THE ROTARY HEAD (V1,V2) WHICH IS DETERMINED ON THE BASIS OF A CONTROL SIGNAL (21A) BY ABOUT 180° WITH RESPECT TO ROTATION PHASE OF THE ROTARY HEAD (A1,A2) DURING THE RECORDING OF AN ANALOG INFORMATION SIGNAL(AA, CC).
