Abstract
Un recubrimiento de fotocatalizador de oxido de tungsteno/dioxido de titanio oxida los contaminantes en el aire que se adsorben sobre el recubrimiento en agua, dioxido de carbono y otras sustancias. El oxido de tungsteno se forma en una monocapa sobre el dioxido de titanio. Cuando los protones de la luz ultravioleta son adsorbidos por el recubrimiento de fotocatalizador de oxido de tungsteno/dioxido de titanio, un electron es promovido de la banda de valencia a la banda de conduccion, produciendo una cavidad en la banda de valencia. Las cavidades en la banda de valencia reaccionan con el agua aplicada sobre el recubrimiento de fotocatalizador de oxido de tungsteno/dioxido de titanio, formando radicales hidroxilo reactivos. Cuando un contaminante en el aire es adsorbido sobre el fotocatalizador de oxido de tungsteno/dioxido de titanio, el radical hidroxilo ataca al contaminante, extrayendo un atomo de hidrogeno del contaminante. El radical hidroxilo oxida el contaminante, produciendo agua, dioxido de carbono y otras sustancias. El recubrimiento fotocatalitico de oxido de tungsteno/dioxido de titanio tiene baja sensibilidad a las variaciones de humedad.
