Abstract
Se han desarrollado métodos para proteger estructuras contra la infestación por termitas. En la realización preferida, las termitas son atraídas para que entren en contacto con un hongo potencialmente letal, como Metarhizium anisiopliae o Beauveria bassiana usando un cebo como el hongo Gleophyllum trabeum o sus productos volátiles. En otra realización, se utiliza un hongo que es un repelente natural de las termitas, como el M. anisoipliae que sirve para impedir que las termitas ingresen en una zona protegida por el hongo repelente. El hongo entomopatógeno, solo o en combinación con un cebo de hongo se provee en forma de una cámara de infección o formulado con una composición nutriente que se administra directamente en las galerías habitadas o en el nido de termitas para iniciar la infección, transmisión y mortalidad de las colonias. Los ejemplos demuestran el control de las termitas usando cámaras que contienen M. anisopliae y B. bassiana.
