Abstract

The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for facilitating the maintenance work of electrical circuits having one or more lights that are activated and deactivated by means of an interruptor that operates in response to first control signals, which can be signals emitted by a photocell or light sensor, or by a controller that has a timer, or by a controller that has been programmed with data relating to the the hours when there is daylight and when there is no daylight. The apparatus comprises at least one timer and a receiver of wireless signals. The apparatus can also include a photocell or light sensor and an electronic device. The apparatus starts the measuring of a pre-established period of time and activates the electrical circuit in response to a wireless control signal emitted by a transmitter that is portable or mounted on a vehicle, and deactivates the electrical circuit when said pre-established period of time has elapsed in order to carry out the inspection and/or reparation of the lights, with significant savings in time and costs in the maintenance of the circuit of lights. The electronic device can include a memory section to store data relating to the duration of the night using signals emitted by the photocell or light sensor, and a logic processor to process said data and activate the electrical circuit using the signals coming from the photocell and the stored duration of the night, whereby the time at which the lights are activated can be delayed by a predetermined period of time after the moment at which said electronic device receives the signal of the presence of light from the photocell or light sensor, and the deactivation of the lights can be advanced by a predetermined period of time before the photocell or light sensor emit a signal indicating that it has detected daylight. A real-time clock can also be used, which synchronises with GPS signals. The apparatus according to the invention can also include means for detecting or me asuring a number of operation variables of the lights, and transmit wireless signals that are useful for monitoring the operation or detecting faults in said lights.
