Abstract

La presente invención es un método para incrementar la resistencia al derretimiento de una resina de polietileno, en donde el método comprende hacer reaccionar la resina de polietileno con un generador de radical libre con una energía de descomposición entre -50 kJoule/mol y -250 kJoules/mol y una temperatura de descomposición pico menor a 280°C. La resina resultante tiene una resistencia al derretimiento incrementada con una mayor proporción de viscosidades de elongación en 0.1 a 100 rad/s cuando se compara con las resinas de polietileno sustancialmente similares, las cuales no han sido reaccionadas con un generador de radical libre tal como un derivado de alcoxiamina.
