Abstract

Un proceso para preparar aldehídos a partir de metanol incluye introducir una corriente de alimentación que comprende metanol y gas de hidrógeno en una zona de reacción de un primer reactor, convertir la corriente de alimentación en una corriente intermedia que comprende olefinas C2 a C4 en la zona de reacción en presencia de un primer catalizador, en donde el primer catalizador es un componente catalizador microporoso, eliminar el agua y las especies C4 y más pesadas de la corriente intermedia para formar una corriente de livianos, y convertir la corriente de livianos en una corriente de producto que comprende propionaldehído en presencia de un segundo catalizador y monóxido de carbono en un segundo reactor. El propionaldehído puede convertirse además en metacrilato de metilo a través de esterificación oxidativa.
