Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a una composición que forma espuma que tiene buena estabilidad a baja temperatura y método para usar la misma en la recuperación mejorada de petróleo. Tal composición que forma espuma comprende un tensioactivo de sulfonato aniónico, preferiblemente un sulfonato de alfa-olefina, un solvente de alquil éter y agua y es preferiblemente estable a al menos -5°C. Un solvente de alquil éter preferido tiene la fórmula C8H18O3, C8H16O3 o mezclas de los mismos. El sulfonato de alfaolefina preferido tiene 10 a 18 carbonos, preferiblemente 12 carbonos. Un método preferido para la recuperación de petróleo de un reservorio comprende la inyección periódica de gas y tal composición que forma espuma en el reservorio y poner en contacto el petróleo de un reservorio con la espuma para ayudar en la recuperación de petróleo del reservorio.
