Abstract

The present invention refers to an electrocoagulation reactor and a process for using the same, where the reactor comprises a main body which inner portion includes a plurality of diffusers connected to oxygen external pumps, which along with a plurality of electrodes connected to an electric power source of direct current, define an electrochemical reactor for treating underground water polluted with As, F, Cd, Cr or Pb, in such a manner that the energization of the plurality of electrodes with direct current may lead to the chemical modification of the pollutants so as to be changed from a solution state to a suspension state, in order to drain the treated water by means of a manual valve towards a collector tank, the water being subsequently extracted therefrom by a water circulation pump that supplies the same to a plurality of filters that separate the solids generated in the process.
