Abstract
The present invention relates to the treatment of water and beverages using iodine and may be used in the iodination of beverages prepared from drinkable water as well as in the production of mineral waters having a corresponding iodine content. To this end, the method involves previously processing the drinkable water (removing mechanical additives), mixing said water with one or more iodinated concentrates and finally filtering the solution before pouring it into a container for sale. The method for the iodination of water and beverages uses an iodine-enrichment device into which one or more natural or artificial iodinated concentrates are fed until the iodine concentration in the end product falls in a range of between 50 and 2500 g/dm3, while the copper concentration does not exceed 1000 g/dm3. This simple technique enables the method to be used on a large scale for the iodination of mineral waters and for the production of various beverages, and also enables the use of natural or artificial iodinated concentrates or mixtures thereof.
