Abstract

본 발명은 액정투사 디스플레이를 제공하며, 이는 (a) 광을 만드는 광원수단(82); (b) 다수의 화소(91a,92a,93a)를 포함하는 영상형성수단(91,92,93)으로써, 각 화소는 격납매체에서 다수의 덩어리에 분산되어 있는 액정재료를 포함하며 충분한 전기장이 존재할때 그위에 입사한 광을 일차적으로 산란시키고 충분한 전기장이 존재하지 않을때 입사광을 일차적으로 투과시키도록 하여 독립적으로 동작하며, 액정조물은 충분한 전기장이 존재하지 않을때 영상형성수단에 의해 산란되는 광량이 가장 낮은 펙트럼 영역에서 우선적으로 광을 흡수하고 충분한 전기장이 존재할때 상기 광을 투과시키는 다색염료를 포함하며, 이에 의하여 영상형성수단에 의해 산란 또는 투광된 광의 색균형을 유지하도록 하는 영상형성 수단; 그리고 (c) 영상형성수단에 의해 투과된 광을 스크린상에 투과시키는 렌즈수단;을 포함한다.

제5a-b도는 본 발명의 투사기의 영상형상수단을 구동하기 적당한 액티브 매트릭스를 도시한다.

Claims (12)

  1. (a) 적어도 두개의 상이한 원색의 광을 만드는 광원수단; (b) 광원수단에 의해 만들어진 각각의 원색광에 상응하는 영상형성수단으로써, 각각의 영성형성수단은 다수의 화소를 포함하고, 각각의 화소는 격납매체에서 다수의 덩어리로 분산되어 있는 액정재료를 포함하여 충분한 전기장이 존재하지 않을때는 그 위에 주로 입사광을 산란시키고 충분한 전기장이 존재할때는 주로 입사광을 투과시키도록 독립적으로 지정할 수 있도록 된 영상 형성수단; (c) 각 영상형성수단에 의해 투과된 광을 스크린에 투과시키는 렌즈수단;을 포함하며, 영상형성수단의 화소에서의 액정조성물은 가장 긴 파장의 원색광에 대한 보색인 다색염료를 포함하는 가장 긴 파장의 원색광에 상응하며, 상기 다색 염료를 충분한 전기장이 존재하지 않으면 산란되지 않은 광을 우선적으로 흡수하고 충분한 전기장이 존재하면 상기 광을 투과시키도록 하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정투사 디스플레이.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 광원수단은 백색광원과 백색광원에 의해 만들어진 백색광을 적어도 두개의 원색으로 분할시키는 이색 미러수단을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정투사 디스플레이.
  3. 제1항에있어서, 광원수단은 각각 여러가지 원색의 광을 생성하는 다수의 원색광원을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정투사 디스플레이.
  4. 제1 내지 3항중 어느 한 항에 있어서, 광원수단은 세가지 원색광을 만드는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정투사 디스플레이.
  5. 제4항에 있어서, 원색은 적, 청, 및 녹색인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정투사 디스플레이.
  6. 제5항에 있어서, 다색염료는 시산염료인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정투사 디스플레이.
  7. 제5항에 있어서, 다색염료는 500nm 및 700nm에서 최대흡수를 하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정투사 디스플레이.
  8. 제4항에 있어서, 두번째로 가장 긴 파장의 원색에 대응하는 영상형성 수단의 액정조성물은 두번째로 가장 긴 파장의 원색에 대한 보색의 다색염료를 포함하며, 상기 다색염료는 적합하게 충분한 전기장이 존재하지 않으며 산란되지 않은 광을 흡수하고 충분한 전기장이 존재할때 상기 광을 투과시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정투사 디스플레이.
  9. (a) 광을 생성하는 광원수단; (b) 다수의 화소를 포함하는 영상 형성수단으로써, 각 화소는 격납매체에서 다수의 덩어리에 분산되어 있는 액정재료를 포함하며 충분한 전기장의 존재하지 않을때 그 위에 입사한 광을 일차적으로 산란시키고 충분한 전기장이 존재할때 입시광을 일차적으로 투과시키기 위해 독립적으로 동작하며, 액정조성물은 충분한 전기장이 존재하지 않을때 영상형성수단에 의해 산란되는 광량이 가장 낮은 스펙트럼 영역에서 우선적으로 광을 흡수하고 충분한 전기장에 존재할때 상기 광을 투과시키는 다색염료를 포함하여, 이에 의하여 영상형성수단에 의해 산란 또는 투과된 광의 색균형을 유지하도록 하는 영상형성수단; (c) 영상형성수단에 의해 투과된 광을 스크린상에 투사시키는 렌즈수단;을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정투사 디스플레이.
  10. 제9항에 있어서, 영상형성수단에 의해 산란된 광이 렌즈수단에 도달하는 것을 방지하는 개구수단을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정투사 디스플레이.
  11. 제9항에 있어서, 다색염료는 시안염료인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정투사 디스플레이.
  12. 제9항에 있어서, 다색염료는 550nm 내지 700nm 사이에서 최대흡수를 하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정투사 디스플레이.
