제1도는 본원 발명을 적용한 오픈셀구조의 화상표시장치의 일실시예를 일부파단하여 도시한 요부확대 사시도, 제2도는 오프셀구조의 화상표시장치의 일실시예의 요부확대 단면도, 제3도는 액정층을 구동하기 위한 전극구성을 도시한 모식도.

Claims (7)

  1. 일주면(主面)상에 상호 대략 평행하고 중첩하지 않는 복수의 제1전극을 가지는 제1기판과, 서로 인접하여 교차하도록 제1전극과 다른 방향으로 배설되어 일주면상에 상호 대략 평행하고 중첩하지 않는 복수의 제2전극을 가지며, 제1기판과 대향하는 제2기판과, 상기 제1기판의 제1전극과 접하도록 배설된 전기광학재료층과, 상기 전기광학재료층과 제2기판사이에 이온화가능한 가스가 봉입되어 형성된 방전실로서, 복수의 주사단위를 가지고, 각 주사단위는 최소한 2개의 주사단위가 연속된 공간으로서 형성되도록 이온가스의 국재화(국在化)된 체적의 방전영역을 포함하는 방전실로 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 화상표시장치.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 또한 상기 광학재료층과 상기 방전실 사이에 배설된 유전체재료층을 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 화상표시장치.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제2전극은 복수의 전극쌍을 가지며, 각 쌍은 애노드전극과 캐소드전극인 것을 특징으로 하는 화상표시장치.
  4. 제3항에 있어서, 상기 애노드전극과 캐소드전극은 이온가스를 함유하는 방전영역을 발생하는 것을 특징으로 하는 화상표시장치.
  5. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 모든 주사단위의 방전영역은 연속된 공간으로 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 화상표시장치.
  6. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 복수의 주사단위의 방전영역은 연속된 공간으로 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 화상표시장치.
  7. 제1항에 있어서, 또한 n : 1(여기서 n은 정수)의 인터레이스 주사하는 주사수단을 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 화상표시장치.
