단말기 조작부(60)는 좌우로 기다란 직사각 형태이다. 단말기 조작부(60)를 시각적으로 나타내기 위하여 경계선(61)이 마련될 수 있으며 해당 부위에 다른 색상을 부여할 수도 있다. 단말기 조작부(60)는 정전용량 방식의 터치패널을 조작할 수 있도록 ITO필름(Indium Tin Oxide Film)을 이용할 수 있다. 우선 앞판(21)의 하부에 좌우로 기다란 조작홀(21b)이 타공되어 마련된다. 앞판(21)의 배면중 조작홀(21b) 부위에는 유전필름(62)이 접착된다. 유전필름(62)은 조작홀(21b)보다 약간 넓은 면적을 가지며 접착제에 의해 접착된다. 단말기 조작부(60)는 겉지(31)가 그대로 있게 되므로 겉지(31) 자체도 유전체로서 합성수지로 된 박막이라면 어렵지 않게 유전체로서 기능할 수 있다. 이러한 형태의 단말기 조작부(60)는 앞커버(20)를 열지 않고서도 손가락을 경계선(61) 내부에 대고 좌우방향으로 문지름으로써 전화를 받거나 휴대폰을 켜거나 통화를 차단하는 등의 조작을 할 수 있게 한다.

휴대폰, 스마트폰 또는 태블릿 피씨와 같은 휴대단말기(P)의 뒷면을 덮는 면적을 갖는 뒷커버(10); 연결부(30)를 통해 상기 뒷커버(10)의 일단에 연결되는 것으로서 상기 휴대단말기(P)의 앞면을 덮는 면적을 갖는 앞커버(20); 상기 휴대단말기(P)가 상기 뒷커버(10)에 고정될 수 있도록 하는 단말기홀더(40)를 포함하는 휴대단말기의 보호케이스에 있어서;
상기 앞커버(20)의 상측에는 상기 휴대단말기(P)의 앞면에 마련되어 있는 터치패널에 표시되는 내용을 볼 수 있는 투명 또는 반투명한 투시부(50)가 마련되며;
상기 앞커버(20)의 하측에는 상기 휴대단말기(P)를 조작할 수 있는 하나 이상의 단말기 조작부(60)가 마련되는 것을 특징으로 하는 휴대단말기의 보호케이스.
