With the development of science and technology, the need for a high-capacity power source is increasing. However, the conventional lithium secondary battery does not meet this need, and has a disadvantage in that it has a short time and a long life of recharging after a short time of use. As a solution to this, environmentally friendly, high energy density and long life fuel cells have attracted attention as next generation power sources.
Such fuel cells are polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFC), phosphoric acid fuel cells (PAFC), molten carbonate fuel cells (MCFC) depending on the type of electrolyte used. cell), solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC), etc., depending on the electrolyte used, the operating temperature of the fuel cell and the material of the components are different. In addition, according to the fuel supply method to the anode, the external reforming type for converting the fuel to hydrogen-enriched gas through the fuel reformer and supplying to the anode, and the fuel direct supply type for supplying gas or liquid fuel directly to the anode or It can be divided into internal reforming type. A representative example of the direct fuel supply type is a direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC), and a direct methanol fuel cell generally uses an aqueous methanol solution as a fuel and a hydrogen ion conductive polymer electrolyte membrane as an electrolyte. Therefore, DMFC also belongs to PEMFC. PEMFCs can achieve high power density, even at small and light weights. Moreover, the use of PEMFCs simplifies the construction of power generation systems.
The basic structure of a fuel cell typically includes an anode (fuel electrode), a cathode (oxidant electrode), and a polymer electrolyte membrane disposed between the anode and the cathode. The anode is provided with a catalyst layer for promoting the oxidation of the fuel, and the cathode is provided with a catalyst layer for promoting the reduction of the oxidant. In the anode, the fuel is oxidized to produce hydrogen ions and electrons, the hydrogen ions are transferred to the cathode through the electrolyte membrane, and the electrons are transferred to the external circuit (load) through the conductor (or current collector). In the cathode, water is generated by combining hydrogen ions transferred through the electrolyte membrane, electrons transferred from the external circuit through the conducting wire (or current collector), and oxygen. At this time, the movement of electrons via the anode, the external circuit and the cathode is power. As such, the cathode and / or anode of the fuel cell contains a catalyst that promotes electrochemical oxidation of the fuel and / or electrochemical reduction of oxygen.
Attempts have been made to synthesize metal particles by stabilizing the metal using surfactants in the preparation of such catalysts, but it is difficult to remove the surfactants after synthesis, and a separate process is required to completely remove them.

According to one embodiment of the present invention, the main catalyst metal precursor may be a chloride, nitride, oxide or halide of palladium, platinum, gold, ruthenium or osmium, specifically palladium chloride (PdCl 2 ), tetraamine palladium Chloride (Pd (NH 3 ) 4 Cl 2 ), ammonium tetrachloro palladate ((NH 4 ) 2 PdCl 4 ), potassium tetrachloro palladate (K 2 PdCl 4 ), tetrachloroplatinic acid (H 2 PtCl 4 ), hexa Chloroplatinic acid (H 2 PtCl 6 ), potassium tetrachloroplatinate (K 2 PtCl 4 ), hexachloroplatinate (K 2 PtCl 6 ), diamine dinitro palladium (Pd (NO 2 ) 2 (NH 3 ) 2 ), nitric acid It may be one or more selected from the group consisting of palladium (Pd (NO 3 ) 2 ), Pt (NH 3 ) 2 (NO 2 ) 2 , and Pt (NH 3 ) 4 Cl 2 , but is not limited thereto.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the cocatalyst metal precursor is at least one metal selected from the group consisting of cerium, ruthenium, tin, tungsten, titanium, molybdenum, iron, vanadium, manganese, cobalt, chromium, nickel, rhodium and iridium It may be a chloride, nitride, oxide or halide of, more specifically (NH 4 ) 2 [RuCl 6 ], (NH 4 ) 2 [RuCl 5 H 2 0], RuCl 3 · 3H 2 O, (CH 3 COO) 2 Co · 4H 2 O, CoCl 2 · 6H 2 O, CoSO 4 · 7H 2 O, CoF 2 And Co (NO 3 ) 2 It may be one or more selected from the group consisting of 6H 2 O, but is not limited thereto. Do not.
The cocatalyst metal precursor is used together with the main catalyst metal precursor to control the increase in particle size of the active metal due to the alloy formation, and also serves to provide an economic advantage by reducing the metal content, such as expensive platinum. .
The content of the cocatalyst metal in the cocatalyst metal precursor may be determined in consideration of the alloy ratio of the alloy catalyst to be prepared. Specifically, 5 to 400 parts by weight, 10 to 300 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of the main catalyst metal, It may be 20 to 200 parts by weight. At this time, if the content of the cocatalyst metal is less than 5 parts by weight, the effect of controlling the particle size and improving the durability due to the alloying effect cannot be expected. The effect of reducing the activity of a metal can be exhibited.
The content of the metal in the main catalyst metal precursor and the cocatalyst metal precursor is, for example, 10 to 90% by weight, 20 to 80% by weight relative to the total weight of the catalyst, i.e., the main catalyst metal, the cocatalyst metal, and the carbon support to be produced. %, 30 to 70% by weight. In this case, when the content of the metal is less than 10% by weight, the activity of the catalyst is low, and when the content of the metal is greater than 90% by weight, the activity of the catalyst may be lowered due to aggregation of metal particles.
In addition, the average particle size of the metal particles in the main catalyst metal precursor and the cocatalyst metal precursor is, for example, 1 to 15 nm, 1.5 to 5 nm. In this case, if the average particle size of the metal particles is less than 1 nm, there may be a problem of catalyst deterioration, and if it is more than 15 nm, there may be a problem of deterioration of catalyst performance.
The carbon support may be included in the metal precursor mixture solution to absorb the metal precursor, thereby bringing about an effect of controlling the size of the active metal particles, having a porosity, and having a surface area of 150 m 2 / g or more, particularly 500 to 1200 m 2 / g and an average particle diameter of 10 to 300nm, in particular 20 to 100nm can be used.
As the carbon support, carbon black, ketjen black, acetylene black, activated carbon powder, carbon molecular sieve, carbon nanotubes, activated carbon having fine pores, mesoporous carbon, or a mixture thereof may be used, but is not limited thereto. no.
The content of the carbon support may be, for example, 10 to 90% by weight, 20 to 80% by weight, and 30 to 70% by weight relative to the total weight of the catalyst, that is, the main catalyst metal, the cocatalyst metal, and the carbon support to be produced. Can be. When the content of the carbon support is less than 10% by weight, the activity of the catalyst may be lowered by aggregation of metal particles, and when the content of the carbon support is higher than 90% by weight, it may be inappropriate in a direct methanol fuel cell using a high content of the catalyst.
The ionomer acts as a surfactant during catalyst synthesis and acts as a binder of the catalyst in the catalyst layer.
As the ionomer, a fluorine polymer, a benzimidazole polymer, a polyimide polymer, a polyetherimide polymer, a polyphenylene sulfide polymer, a polysulfone polymer, a polyether sulfone polymer, a polyether ketone polymer, a poly One or more mixtures selected from the group consisting of ether-etherketone-based polymers, and polyphenylquinoxaline-based polymers may be used, but is not limited thereto.
The content of the ionomer may be 1 to 100 parts by weight, 10 to 70 parts by weight, 15 to 45 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the total catalyst, that is, the main catalyst metal, the cocatalyst metal, and the carbon support. At this time, if the content of the ionomer is less than 1 part by weight, the content is too small to play a role as the ionomer, and the content of the content more than 100 parts by weight is too high to reduce the performance of the catalyst.
The first dispersion medium may be one or a mixture of two or more selected from the group consisting of water and alcohol. The alcohol may be methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol, 2-propanol, butanol, ethylene glycol or a mixture thereof, but is not limited thereto.
The content of the first dispersion medium may be 3,000 to 100,000 parts by weight, 7,000 to 40,000 parts by weight, and 10,000 to 30,000 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the main catalyst metal precursor. In this case, when the content of the first dispersion medium is less than 3,000 parts by weight, the solvent may be too small so that the dispersion of the catalyst, the carbon support and the ionomer may not be properly performed, and when the amount of the first dispersion medium is greater than 100,000 parts by weight, the productivity may be reduced.
In preparing the metal precursor mixed solution, the pH of the solution may be adjusted to 4 to 13, wherein the acid or base used for controlling the pH may be an acid such as hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, sulfuric acid, or a mixture thereof. Or one or more selected from the group consisting of bases such as sodium hydroxide, ammonium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide or mixtures thereof. When the pH of the metal precursor mixed solution is less than 4, the catalyst metal particle size may be increased, and when the pH is greater than 13, the efficiency may be reduced in preparing the catalyst.
Thereafter, a reduction step of the prepared metal precursor mixture solution is performed, wherein the reducing agent used in the reduction step is alcohol, hydrazine, aldehyde, sodium borohydride, lithium borohydride, potassium borohydride, and sodium thiosulfate. It may be one or more selected from the group consisting of. Examples of the alcohol include monoalcohols such as methanol and ethanol, ethylene glycol, propane-1,3-diol, 2-methylpropane-1,3-diol, hexane-1,6-diol or 1,10-decane. And dialcohols such as diols.
The content of the reducing agent may be determined in consideration of the alloy ratio of the alloy catalyst to be prepared. Specifically, in the case of a reduction method except an alcohol reduction method and a hydrogenation reduction method, the amount may be 0.8 to 5 equivalent parts, 1.0 to 4 equivalent parts, and 1.2 to 3 equivalent parts based on 1 molar equivalent of the anion salt of the metal precursor. At this time, if the content of the reducing agent is less than 0.8 equivalent parts, the reducing power is insufficient to make the alloy, and if more than 5 equivalent parts, the size of the alloy particles and platinum particles due to excessive use of the reducing agent may increase.
After the reduction step, the reduced product is dried and purified using an organic solvent.
Specifically, the drying and purification step is the step of drying the reduced product; Extracting impurities remaining in the dried result using an organic solvent; And it may include the step of removing the organic solvent.
First, the reduced product may be dried under a condition of 6 to 18 hours in a vacuum oven at 60 to 100 ° C.
Next, the resultant of the drying step is mixed with the extraction organic solvent, and the organic solvent mixture solution is refluxed for 5 to 30 hours at 35 to 100 ℃ using a liquid / liquid continuous extraction device Extract and remove with organic solvent. Thereafter, distilled water is added to the mixed solution where the reflux process is completed, and the organic solvent is removed.
Methylene chloride, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, 1,2-dichloroethane, or a mixture thereof may be used as the organic solvent, but is not limited thereto. Any specific solvent may be used as long as it has a specific gravity higher than that of distilled water and a lower boiling point.
Finally, a catalyst slurry for a fuel cell may be prepared by mixing a second dispersion medium with the purified product.
The second dispersion medium is added for the purpose of making the final catalyst slurry for a fuel cell have an appropriate viscosity and for the catalyst and ionomer to be well dispersed.
The second dispersion medium may be one or a mixture of two or more selected from the group consisting of water and alcohol, similarly to the aforementioned first dispersion medium. The alcohol may be methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol, 2-propanol, butanol, ethylene glycol or a mixture thereof, but is not limited thereto.
The content of the second dispersion medium may be 500 to 10,000 parts by weight, 1,000 to 7,000 parts by weight, 1500 to 3,000 parts by weight based on a total of 100 parts by weight of the final catalyst, that is, the main catalyst metal, the auxiliary catalyst metal, and the carbon support. In this case, when the content of the second dispersion medium is less than 500 parts by weight, the viscosity of the slurry is so large that the dispersion of the catalyst and the ionomer is not well achieved, and when it is more than 10,000, the slurry may be too thin to facilitate the manufacture of the electrode.
At this time, the viscosity of the catalyst slurry for fuel cells can be appropriately adjusted according to the coating method.

Comparative Example 3: Preparation of Pt / C Slurry with Pt Content of 60% by Weight
To 1 g of Pt / C (Johnson Matthey) commercial catalyst loaded with 60% by weight of platinum (DuPont), 1.76 g of 10% by weight of Nafion ® (DuPont) aqueous solution was added and 6 ml of tertiary distilled water and 2-propanol 12 ml was added to make a slurry.
In the production methods of Comparative Examples 1 to 2, there is a disadvantage in that the yield of the catalyst is reduced during washing and filtration using tertiary distilled water after the synthesis of the catalyst, and thus it is difficult to control the content of the metal and the carbon support in the catalyst. Has its drawbacks. In contrast to the embodiment 1-2 method of manufacturing and to maintain the content of metal and a carbon support was used in the first to give a catalyst by using a liquid / liquid continuous extraction apparatus in the final compound, Nafion (Nafion ®, DuPont ) As a surfactant, it is possible to obtain a better dispersion of the ionomer in the final synthesized slurry.

The fuel supply of the fuel supply separation plate was supplied using a fuel pump in the fuel reservoir, the gas supply of the gas supply separation plate was supplied using an air pump, and the performance of the manufactured fuel cell was evaluated at room temperature.
