Claims (19)
- 집전체의 한 면 또는 양면 상에 전극활물질 입자들이 전기적으로 연결된 전극활물질층이 포함된 전극에 있어서, 상기 전극활물질층 상에 온도에 따라 전기 저항 특성이 변화하는 코팅층이 형성된 것이 특징인 전극.
- 제 1항에 있어서, 상기 온도에 따라 전기 저항 특성이 변화하는 코팅층은 부온도계수 써미스터(negative temperature coefficient thermistor: NTC) 특성을 갖는 무기물 입자를 포함하는 것이 특징인 전극.
- 제 2항에 있어서, 상기 NTC 특성을 갖는 무기물 입자는 온도 상승에 따라 양(兩) 전극과 접촉하는 무기물 입자의 저항 감소를 통해 양(兩) 전극의 미세 단락을 유발시켜 전압 강하가 유도되는 것이 특징인 전극.
- 제 2항에 있어서, 상기 NTC 특성을 갖는 무기물 입자는 Mn, Fe, Co, Ni 중에서 선택된 원소를 포함하는 전이 금속 산화물, 스피넬 구조의 MgAl2O4, BaTiO3, 페로브스카이트 구조의 PbTiO3 및 Si로 구성된 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상의 반도체인 전극.
- 제 1항에 있어서, 상기 온도에 따라 전기 저항 특성이 변화하는 코팅층은 도전성(conductivity) 입자를 추가로 포함하는 것이 특징인 전극.
- 제 1항에 있어서, 상기 온도에 따라 전기 저항 특성이 변화하는 코팅층은 온도에 따라 전기 저항이 변화하는 특성을 갖는 무기물 입자가 서로 물리적 접촉에 의해 연결되거나; 또는 온도에 따라 전기 저항이 변화하는 특성을 갖는 무기물 입자들 사이에 도전성 입자가 개재되어 연결되며, 상기 코팅층과 전극활물질층은 전기적으로 연결되는 것이 특징인 전극.
- 제 1항에 있어서, 상기 온도에 따라 전기 저항 특성이 변화하는 코팅층은 집전체 상에 전극활물질 입자들이 기공 구조를 형성하면서 결착된 전극의 표면 및 전극 중 기공부 일부로 구성된 하나 이상의 영역에 형성된 무기물 입자 및 바인더 혼합 코팅층으로서, 바인더 고분자에 의해 무기물 입자 사이가 연결 및 고정되고, 무기물 입자들 간의 빈 공간(interstitial volume)으로 인해 기공 구조(pore structure)가 형성된 것이 특징인 전극.
- 제 1항에 있어서, 상기 온도에 따라 전기 저항 특성이 변화하는 코팅층은 분리막 역할을 수행하는 것이 특징인 전극.
- 제 1항에 있어서, 상기 무기물 입자의 크기는 0.01 내지 10㎛ 범위인 전극.
- 제 1항에 있어서, 상기 무기물 입자의 함량은 무기물 입자 및 바인더 고분자의 혼합물 100 중량% 당 5 내지 99 중량% 범위인 전극.
- 제7항에 있어서, 상기 바인더 고분자는 용해도 지수(solubility parameter)가 15 내지 45MPa1/2 범위인 전극.
- 제 7항에 있어서, 상기 바인더 고분자는 폴리비닐리덴 풀루오라이드 -헥사풀루오로프로필렌 (polyvinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene), 폴리비닐리덴 풀루오라이드-트리클로로에틸렌 (polyvinylidene fluoride-co-trichloroethylene), 폴리메틸메타클릴레이트 (polymethylmethacrylate), 폴리아크릴로니트릴 (polyacrylonitrile), 폴리비닐피롤리돈 (polyvinylpyrrolidone), 폴리비닐아세테이트 (polyvinylacetate), 에틸렌 비닐 아세테이트 공중합체 (polyethylene-co-vinyl acetate), 폴리에틸렌옥사이드 (polyethylene oxide), 셀룰로오스 아세테이트 (cellulose acetate), 셀룰로오스 아세테이트 부틸레이트 (cellulose acetate butyrate), 셀룰로오스 아세테이트 프로피오네이트 (cellulose acetate propionate), 시아노에틸풀루란 (cyanoethylpullulan), 시아노에틸폴리비닐알콜 (cyanoethylpolyvinylalcohol), 시아노에틸셀룰로오스 (cyanoethylcellulose), 시아노에틸수크로오스 (cyanoethylsucrose), 풀루란 (pullulan), 카르복실 메틸 셀룰 로오스 (carboxyl methyl cellulose), 아크리로니트릴스티렌부타디엔공중합체 (acrylonitrile-styrene-butadiene copolymer) 및 폴리이미드(polyimide)로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상인 전극.
- 제 1항에 있어서, 상기 온도에 따라 전기 저항 특성이 변화하는 코팅층의 두께는 1 내지 100㎛ 범위인 전극.
- 제 1항에 있어서, 상기 온도에 따라 전기 저항 특성이 변화하는 코팅층의 기공 크기는 0.1nm 내지 10㎛ 범위이거나, 기공도는 5 내지 95% 범위인 것이 특징인 전극.
- 양극, 음극 및 전해질을 포함하는 전기 화학 소자에 있어서, 상기 양극, 음극 또는 양(兩) 전극은 제 1항 내지 제 14항 중 어느 한 항의 전극인 것이 특징인 전기 화학 소자.
- 제 15항에 있어서, 상기 전극 상에 형성된 무기물 입자와 양 전극이 서로 접촉함으로써 온도 상승시 전압 강하를 통해 소자의 상태가 방전 상태로 변환되는 것이 특징인 전기 화학 소자.
- 제 15항에 있어서, 상기 전기 화학 소자는 미세 기공 분리막을 추가로 포함 하는 것이 특징인 전기 화학 소자.
- 제 15항에 있어서, 상기 전기 화학 소자는 리튬 이차 전지인 전기 화학 소자.
- (a) 바인더 고분자를 용매에 용해시켜 고분자 용액을 제조하는 단계;(b) 온도에 따라 전기 저항이 변화하는 특성을 갖는 무기물 입자를 상기 단계 (a)의 고분자 용액에 첨가 및 혼합하는 단계;(c) 기제조된 전극 표면 및 전극 중 기공부 일부로 구성된 하나 이상의 영역을 상기 단계 (b)의 혼합물로 코팅 및 건조하는 단계를 포함하는 제 1항 내지 제14항 중 어느 한 항에 기재된 전극의 제조방법.
