Abstract

Inference technique development for an inference engine offering a context-aware knowledge service in a ubiquitous environment is provided to offer diverse extended service requested from a user, and implement the intelligent context-aware service, not a user command-based service, according to a user location, a profile, and current environment configuration by using an inference technique for a rule-based engine. A system includes a rule, pattern matcher, and agenda function present in the rule-based engine. A rule set comprises the system and a service rule for the context-aware service by including a basic rule for inference. The actual inference for comparing the rule with an actual environment is performed in a pattern matcher. An operation for inferring priority of each rule is performed through an agenda.
